1. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

1. Read all instructions and keep these safety instructions. Any type of

misuse of the appliance may result in a potential injury.

2. Connect the appliance to a mains power socket with an earth

connectiononly. Mainsvoltage mustbe the same as the details on

the ratingplate. The use of incorrect connection will negate the

guaranteeand may be hazardous.

3. This appliance isintendedto be used in household only. Itis not

intendedto be used in following applications, and the guarantee will

notapply for:

–staff kitchen areas in shops, offices andother working envir-

onments;

–farm houses;

–by clientsin hotels, motels and other residential type envir-

onments;

–bed and breakfast type environments;

4. Your appliance is intendedfor domestic use inside the home only at

analtitude below 3400 m.

5. In case of any inappropriate use or failure to comply with the

instructions, the manufacturer accepts no responsibility and the

guaranteemay not apply.

6. We recommend using the NESCAFÉ®DolceGusto®capsules

designed andtested for the NESCAFÉ®DolceGusto® machine. They

weredesigned to interacttogether – the interaction provides the in-

cupquality thatNESCAFÉ®DolceGusto® isknown for. Each

capsuleis designed to prepare a perfectcup, and cannot be reused.

7. Do notremove hot capsulesby hand. Always use capsule holder

handle to dispose ofused capsules.

8. Alwaysuse the appliance on aflat, stable, heatresistant surface

away from sources ofheat or water splashes. This appliance shall

notbe placed in a cabinet when in use.

9. To protectagainstfire, electric shock and injury to persons do not

immerse the power cord, plugsor the appliance in water or other

liquid.Avoid spillage on the plug. Never touchthe power cord with

wethands. Do notoverfill the water tank.

10. In case of an emergency remove the plug from the mains power

socketimmediately.

11. Close supervision is necessary when the appliance is used near

children.Keep the appliance /power cord / capsule holder outof

reachof children. Children should be supervised to ensure thatthey

do not play with the appliance. Never leave the appliance without

surveillance while makinga beverage.

12. This appliance isnotintended for use by children or persons with

reducedphysical, sensory or mentalcapabilities, or lack of

experienceand knowledge, unless they have been given supervision

or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person

responsible for their safety. Persons who have a limited or no

understanding ofthe operation and use ofthisappliance must first

readand fully understand the contents ofthe user manual, and

whereappropriate seek additional guidance on its operation

anduse from the person responsible for their safety.

13. Do not use the appliance withoutthe drip tray and drip grid,

exceptwhen a very tall mug isused. Do not use the appliance

for hot water preparation.

14. For health reasons, alwaysfill the water tank with fresh

drinkingwater.

15. After use ofthe appliance always remove the capsule and

cleanthe capsule holder. Empty and clean the drip tray daily

andalso the capsule bin (when available). Food allergy

sufferersmust rinse the appliance according to cleaning

procedure.

16. The heating element surface is subject to residual heat after

use and plastic housings may feel warm to touch several

minutesupon use.

17. Unplugfrom the mains power socket when notin use.

18. Unplugfrom the mains power socket before cleaning. Allow to

cool before putting on or taking off parts, before cleaning the

appliance.Never clean wet or immerse appliance in any fluid.

Neverclean the appliance with running water. Never use

detergentsto clean the appliance. Clean the appliance only

usingsoft sponges/brushes. The water tank should be cleaned

witha clean food-safe brush.

19. Never turn the machine upside down.

20. Ifaway for prolonged periods, on holiday, etc. the appliance

mustbe emptied, cleanedand unplugged. Rinse before reuse.

Operatethe rinse cycle before re-using your appliance.

21. Do notturn off the appliance duringthe descaling process.

Rinsethe water tank and cleanthe appliance to avoid any

residual descaling agent.

22. Any operation, cleaning and care other than normal use must

be undertaken by after-sales service centres designated by

NESCAFÉ

®DolceGusto® hotline. Do notdismantle appliance

anddo not put anything into openings.

23. In case of intensive use without allowingsufficient cooling

time,the appliance will stop functioning temporarily with the

redindicator light blinking. This is to protect your appliance

fromoverheating. Switch the appliance offfor 20 minutes to let

itcool down.

24. Do notoperate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug. If

the power cord isdamaged, it must be replaced by the

manufacturer, itsservice agent or similarly qualified persons

inorder to avoid a hazard. Do not operate any appliance that

malfunctionsor has been damaged inany manner. Unplug

cordimmediately. Return the damaged appliance to the

nearestauthorised service facility designated by

NESCAFÉ

®DolceGusto®hotline.

25. The use ofaccessory attachments notrecommended by the

appliance manufacturer may result in fire, electric shock or

injury to persons.
