• The shelves may be adjusted as you like using the guides in
the refrigerator interior.
• Each shelf is fi tted with a locking device at the back, which
prevents it from being pulled out unintentionally.
If you wish to pull out a shelf (to move to another position or
for cleaning), please proceed as follows:
1. lift the rear end of the shelf;
2. pull out the shelf along the guides at the sides as far as the
door;
3. rotate the shelf upwards or downwards, depending on the
position of the lighting device.
To replace the shelf, follow the procedure in reverse.
Store perishables at the back of the shelf where the temperature
is lower.
• Bottle rack can be placed on any shelf in the refrigerator.
When placing the rack, make sure the bottles to not obstruct
the door. The rack can be used elsewhere as well, e.g. as a

• Proper use of the appliance, adequately packed food, correct
temperature and hygienic precautions produce substantial
impact on the quality of stored food.
• Always respect the best before date, printed on the packaging.
• Food to be stored in the refrigerator should be properly packed
as to prevent emission and/or reception of moisture and odors.
• Never store infl ammable, volatile or explosive substances.
• Beverages with high alcohol percentage shall be stored in
tightly sealed bottles in vertical position.
• Some organic solutions like volatile oils in lemon or orange
peel, acids in butter etc. can cause damage in prolonged
contact with plastic surfaces or gaskets for longer period of
time they can cause accelerated aging of the plastic material.
• Unpleasant odor inside the refrigerator is a sign that something
is wrong with food or that your refrigerator needs cleaning (see
chapter Cleaning).
• If you plan a longer absence, make sure you removed quickly
perishable articles of food from the appliance before you
leave.

Storage of food in the refrigerator

476455
The drawer allows storing a wide variety of fresh food to Fresh+
keep longer than in a conventional refrigerator. The food stays
fresh longer, retaining the fl avour and nutrients.
It lows down decay and loss of mass; therefore, fruit and
vegetables remain fresh and natural longer.
For optimum performance, the drawer should be fully closed.
• When buying food, make sure it is fresh as this will determine
the quality of the food, as well as how long it will keep in the
fridge.
• Store your food in closed containers or appropriate packaging
to prevent it from emitting or receiving odours and moisture.
• Take the food from the drawer 30-60 minutes before use to
allow the aroma and fl avour develop at room temperature.
• Food sensitive to low temperature and not appropriate for
storage in the drawer include the following: pineapple, Fresh+
avocado, bananas, olives, potatoes, eggplant, cucumbers,
beans, peppers (capsicum), melons, watermelons, pumpkins
and squash, etc.
• To remove the drawer:
- remove the vegetable bin;
- remove the glass shelf above and, with some models,
under the FRESH ZONE drawer;
- if necessary (with some models), remove the drawer door
(1): open, hold in the middle (as shown in the fi gure), bend
slightly and simultaneously pull up towards you;
- pull out the drawer to the position indicated in the fi gure
(detail "A"), rotate it downwards and remove it.
- To replace the drawer, observe the reverse order.
16
Storing food in the Fresh+ compartment

476455
• 24 hours before freezing fresh food, activate the super freeze
function:
- control unit I: use the key, E
- control unit II: use the key.C
After 24 hours of super freeze operation, insert the fresh food
into the freezer compartment.
Make sure the fresh food does not come into contact with the
food that is already frozen!
In freezers, sufNo Frost+ fi cient clearance should be left under
the ceiling to allow circulation of cool air. Therefore, do not load
the food higher than the indicated mark (see fi gure).
• After 24 hours you may relocate the food to the storage
compartment, and repeat the freezing procedure if required.
You may also remove the drawers and store frozen food
directly on cooling shelves. Do not remove the lower drawer if
you have a NO FROST appliance!
• For freezing smaller quantities of fresh food (1-2 kg), the
engagement of the fast freeze function is not required.
• Freeze only such food which is suitable for freezing and sustain
low temperatures. Food should be of adequate quality and
fresh.
• Select adequate packaging for each kind of food and pack it
correctly.
• The packaging should be air tight and well sealed without
leaking since this could cause substantial vitamin loss and
dehydration.
• Mark packages with following data: kind and amount of foods
and the date of loading.
• It is imperative that food is frozen as quickly as possible. We
therefore recommend the size of the package not to be too
large and to be cooled before loading into the freezer.
• The amount of the fresh foods that can be loaded in the freezer
as a single load is declared on the rating plate. If the loaded
amount is too large, the quality of freezing is reduced which in
turn affects the quality of frozen foods.

Freezing and storing frozen food

476455
The storage time and recommended temperature for storing
commercially frozen foods is indicated on the packaging. Always
follow manufacturer’s instructions for storage and use of frozen
food. When shopping be careful to choose only food which is
adequately packed and provided with complete data and stored
in freezers where the temperature never rises above -18°C.
Do not buy packages of food wrapped with frost. This indicates
that the package was thawed before at least once. Take care
that packages don’t start to thaw during transport to your home.
Temperature rise shortens the storage time and affects the
quality of commercially frozen foods.
Recommended periods of storing frozen food in the freezer
Food Period
Fruit, beef from 10 to12 months
Vegetables, veal, poultry from 8 to 10 months
Venison from 6 to 8 months
Pork from 4 to 6 months
Chopped (minced ) meat 4 months
Bread, pastry, TV-dinners, fat free fi sh 3 months
Intestines 2 months
Smoked sausages, fat fi sh 1 month
Partially thawed or defrosted foods should be used as soon as
possible. Cold air preserves the food but it does not destroy
microorganisms which rapidly activate themselves after
defrosting and make foods perishable. Partial defrosting reduces
the nutritional value of food, especially fruits, vegetables and
readymade meals.
Storage of industrially
frozen food
Storage periods of

Defrosting frozen food
Refrigerator needs no special defrosting procedure, because ice
deposited at the inner back wall is defrosted automatically.
Ice deposited on the inner back wall during the compressor
operation is defrosted when the compressor stops operating,
and condensed water drops are drained through the outlet in the
inner back wall into the drain pan situated above the compressor
where it evaporates. In case you should notice excessive ice
formation at the rear refrigerator panel (3-5 mm thick), switch the
appliance off and thaw it manually.
Automatic defrosting of
the refrigerator
18
Defrosting the appliance

476455
• Clean the freezer when the frost layer in the freezer reaches
thickness of around 3-5 mm.
• 24 hours before defrosting activate the fast freeze function
(see relevant control chapter depending upon the model of
the appliance – fast freezing) for continuous operation in order
to additionally freeze the food inside. After that period take
the food out of the freezer and protect them from excessive
thawing.
• Switch the appliance off (see the relevant control chapter
for ON/OFF function) and pull the power cord from the wall
socket.
• Place a convenient absorbent cloth underneath to collect the
defrost water and change it periodically.
• Never use powered appliances to defrost the freezer (hair
dryer, etc.) - LIFE THREATENING!
• Avoid using defrosting sprays, as they may cause damage to
the plastic parts and may be hazardous to health.
• Clean the interior of the appliance and wipe it dry (see chapter
Cleaning).
• Before reloading food into the freezer switch the appliance on.
• The No Frost+ freezer will defrost automatically. Occasional
frost that may appear on the walls will disappear automatically.
• Build-up of ice or frost in the freezer compartment can be
a result of abnormal use of appliance (door opened too
frequently and/or too long, door not properly closed etc.). In
this case, unplug the appliance, remove the food from the
freezer and protect them from defrosting.
Clean and dry the freezer interior. Before returning the frozen
food into the freezer, switch on the appliance and select the
desired setting.
