1 Functions and features
The clamp adapter 1-1.5" can be used together with O-ring sealing and leakage
port for applications under hygienic conditions to 3A.
Clamps and clamp seals are usually designed for a pressure level of PN16.
At plant pressures above this pressure level:

2 Installation procedure
2.1 Sensor – adapter

►Lightly grease the thread of the sensor
using a lubricating paste (A).
The paste must be suitable and
approved for the respective application.
►Place the sealing ring (B) in the groove
(C) of the adapter.
►If necessary, check O-rings and
lubricating paste for the application
requirements and adapt.
►Screw the sensor into the adapter until
it is hand-tight. When doing so, avoid
mechanical effects on the sealing
areas, the hygienic area and the
pressure measuring cell.

►Clamp the sensor and adapter into a
clamping device (D) and only tighten
slightly so that the adapter is not
deformed.
►Tighten the sensor using a spanner
until you can feel the end stop.
> This corresponds to a maximum
tightening torque of 35 Nm.
Overtightening may affect the
sealing effect.
The adapter is supplied with an EPDM O-ring and an FKM O-ring.

2.2 Installation on the process connection
Install the clamp adapter with attached sensor to the counterpart on the plant by
means of the fixing components clamp and seal.
For EHEDG-compliant connection, use a self-centring sealing with defined
end stop ( EHEDG requirements).→
Observe 3A compliant connection. If the interface from sensor to adapter
is equipped with an EPDM O-ring (E30054) a limitation to Class II
according to 3A Sanitary Standard number 18-03 must be observed
(121°C = 250°F). The Viton O-ring (E30123) meets Class I requirements
(149°C = 300°F).
3 Foreseeable misuse
The pressure rating of the ifm adapter is indicated as 100 bar.
Common clamp adapters and elastomer seals are not designed for plant
pressures above PN16.
With plant pressures of >16 bar to max. 100 bar:
►Select suppliers with suitable components (check technical data).
►Make sure that the clamp and the clamp seal correspond to the pressure range
(special parts: not available in the ifm product range).
ifm does not assume any liability for the connection of the adapter to installations
with operating pressures > 16 bar. If required, contact the ifm specialists.
