12040NI10 and 12040NI20 antenna adaptors
Many Nissan vehicles have an odd double pin antenna plug at the radio. This is when the factory stereo has a "diversity" tuner. These tuners have a
"diversity" circuit which continuously selects the best signal between two antennas. There are also two antenna cables, one goes to the main regular
antenna, other antenna is typically integrated into the rear window defroster. The two cables converge at the Nissan antenna jack.
The 12040NI10 antenna adaptor allows an aftermarket stereo to use the factory Nissan antenna plug. Plug the factory Nissan antenna jack into the
female socket (on left). Use the male Motorola plug (on right) for the new radio. In this case, you don't connect anything to the female Motorola. It
would only be used when adding a FM modulated changer to the factory radio.
The 12040NI20 is primarily used when adding a FM CD changer to the factory stereo. The double pin plug (on left) plugs into the factory radio.
Connect the changer modulator male output cable to the female Motorola on adaptor (at right). You shouldn't normally connect the male Motorola on
adaptor. Sometimes it can be connected to the female on the 12040NI10 (also used when adding FM changer), but this usually causes radio signal
interference with CD operation.
