WARNING
(Risk of re)
This mark is for R32 refrigerant only. Refrigerant type is written on nameplate of outdoor unit.
In case that refrigerant type is R32, this unit uses a ammable refrigerant.
If refrigerant leaks and comes in contact with re or heating part, it will create harmful gas and there is risk of re.
Read the OPERATION MANUAL carefully before operation.
Service personnel are required to carefully read the OPERATION MANUAL and INSTALLATION MANUAL before operation.
Further information is available in the OPERATION MANUAL, INSTALLATION MANUAL, and the like.

1. Safety precautions

Before installing the unit, make sure you read all the “Safety precautions”.
►Pleasereporttoortakeconsentbythesupplyauthoritybeforeconnectionto
the system.
After installation work has been completed, explain the “Safety Precautions,” use, and
maintenance of the unit to the customer according to the information in the Operation
Manual and perform the test run to ensure normal operation. Both the Installation Manual
and Operation Manual must be given to the user for keeping. These manuals must be
passed on to subsequent users.

Warning:
• Theunitmustnotbeinstalledbytheuser.Askadealeroranauthorizedtechni-
cian to install and repair the unit. If the unit is installed incorrectly, water leakage,
electricshock,orremayresult.
• For installation and relocation work, follow the instructions in the Installation
Manualanduse toolsand pipecomponents specicallymade foruse withR32
refrigerant. If pipe components not designed for R32 refrigerant are used and the
unitisnotinstalledcorrectly,thepipesmayburstandcausedamageorinjuries.
Inaddition,waterleakage,electricshock,orremayresult.
• Theunitmustbeinstalledaccordingtotheinstructionsinordertominimizethe
risk of damage from earthquakes, typhoons, or strong winds. An incorrectly in-
stalledunitmayfalldownandcausedamageorinjuries.
•
Theunitmustbesecurelyinstalledonastructurethatcansustainitsweight.Iftheunit
ismountedonanunstablestructure,itmayfalldownandcausedamageorinjuries.
• If the air conditioner is installed in a small room, measures must be taken to
preventtherefrigerantconcentrationintheroomfromexceedingthesafetylimit
in the event of refrigerant leakage. Consult a dealer regarding the appropriate
measures to preventthe allowable concentration frombeing exceeded.Should
the refrigerant leak and cause the concentration limit to be exceeded, hazards
duetolackofoxygenintheroommayresult.
• Ventilate the room if refrigerant leaks during operation. If refrigerant comes into
contactwithaame,poisonousgaseswillbereleased.
• Allelectricworkmustbeperformedbyaqualiedtechnicianaccordingtolocal
regulationsandtheinstructionsgiveninthismanual.Theunitsmustbepowered
bydedicated power linesand the correctvoltage and circuit breakersmust be
used.Powerlineswithinsufcientcapacityorincorrectelectricalworkmayresult
inelectricshockorre.
• Use C1220 copper phosphorus, for copper and copper alloy seamless pipes, to
connect the refrigerant pipes. If the pipes are not connected correctly, the unit will
notbeproperlygroundedandelectricshockmayresult.
• Thisapplianceisintendedtobeusedbyexpertortrainedusersinshops,inlight
industryandonfarms,orforcommercialusebylaypersons.
• Useonlyspeciedcablesforwiring.Thewiringconnectionsmustbemadese-
curely with no tension applied on the terminal connections. Also, never splice the
cablesforwiring(unlessotherwiseindicatedinthisdocument).
Failuretoobservetheseinstructionsmayresultinoverheatingorare.
• Ifthesupplycordisdamaged,itmustbereplacedbythemanufacturer,itsservice
agentorsimilarlyqualiedpersonsinordertoavoidhazard.
• Theapplianceshallbeinstalledinaccordancewithnationalwiringregulations.
• Theterminalblockcoverpaneloftheoutdoorunitmustbermlyattached.Ifthe
cover panel is mounted incorrectly and dust and moisture enter the unit, electric
shockorremayresult.
• When installing or relocating, or servicing the air conditioner, use only the speci-
edrefrigerant(R32)tochargetherefrigerantlines.Donotmixitwithanyother
refrigerant and do not allow air to remain in the lines.
Ifairismixedwiththerefrigerant,thenitcanbethecauseofabnormalhighpres-
sureintherefrigerantline,andmayresultinanexplosionandotherhazards.
Theuseofanyrefrigerantotherthanthatspeciedforthesystemwillcauseme-
chanicalfailureorsystemmalfunctionorunitbreakdown.Intheworstcase,this
could lead to a serious impediment to securing product safety.
• UseonlyaccessoriesauthorizedbyMitsubishiElectricandaskadealeroranau-
thorizedtechniciantoinstallthem.Ifaccessoriesareincorrectlyinstalled,water
leakage,electricshock,orremayresult.
• Donotaltertheunit.Itmaycausere,electricshock,injuryorwaterleakage.
• The user should never attempt to repair the unit or transfer it to another location.
Iftheunitisinstalledincorrectly,waterleakage,electricshock,orremayresult.
Iftheair conditionermustbe repairedormoved, aska dealer oranauthorized
technician.
• Afterinstallation has beencompleted, check forrefrigerant leaks. Ifrefrigerant
leaksintotheroomandcomesintocontactwiththeameofaheaterorportable
cookingrange,poisonousgaseswillbereleased.
• Do not use means to accelerate the defrosting process or to clean, other than
thoserecommendedbythemanufacturer.
• Theapplianceshallbestoredinaroomwithoutcontinuouslyoperatingignition
sources(forexample:openames,anoperatinggasapplianceoranoperating
electricheater).
• Donotpierceorburn.
• Be aware that refrigerants may not contain an odour.

• Theinstallationofpipe-workshallbekepttoaminimum.
• Compliancewithnationalgasregulationsshallbeobserved.
• Keepanyrequiredventilationopeningsclearofobstruction.

/ Whenperformingbrazingwork,besuretoventilatetheroomsufciently.
Makesurethattherearenohazardousorammablematerialsnearby.

1.1. Before installation
Caution:
• Do not use the unit in an unusual environment. If the air conditioner is installed in
areasexposedtosteam,volatileoil(includingmachineoil),orsulfuricgas,areas
exposedtohighsaltcontentsuchastheseaside,orareaswheretheunitwillbe
coveredbysnow,theperformancecanbesignicantlyreducedandtheinternal
partscanbedamaged.
• Donotinstalltheunitwherecombustiblegasesmayleak,beproduced,ow,or
accumulate. If combustible gas accumulates around the unit, re or explosion
may result.
1. Safety precautions
• The outdoor unit produces condensation during the heating operation. Make
sure to provide drainage around the outdoor unit if such condensation is likely to
cause damage.
• Wheninstallingtheunitinahospitalorcommunicationsofce,bepreparedfor
noise and electronic interference. Inverters, home appliances, high-frequency
medical equipment, and radio communications equipment can cause the air con-
ditionertomalfunctionorbreakdown.Theairconditionermayalsoaffectmedical
equipment, disturbing medical care, and communications equipment, harming
the screen display quality.
1.2.Beforeinstallation(relocation)
Caution:
• Beextremelycarefulwhentransportingorinstallingtheunits.Twoormoreper-
sons are needed to handle the unit, as it weighs 20 kg or more. Do not grasp the
packagingbands.Wearprotectiveglovestoremovetheunitfromthepackaging
and tomove it, asyou can injure yourhands on thens or theedge of other
parts.
• Be sure to safely dispose of the packaging materials. Packaging materials, such
asnailsandothermetalorwoodenpartsmaycausestabsorotherinjuries.
• Thebaseand attachmentsof theoutdoor unitmustbeperiodicallychecked for
looseness, cracks or other damage. If such defects are left uncorrected, the unit
mayfalldownandcausedamageorinjuries.
• Do not clean the air conditioner unit with water. Electric shock may result.
• Tighten all are nuts to specication using a torque wrench. If tightened too
much,the arenutcan breakafteran extendedperiodand refrigerantcanleak
out.
1.3. Before electric work
Caution:
• Besuretoinstallcircuitbreakers.Ifnotinstalled,electricshockmayresult.
• Forthepowerlines,usestandardcablesofsufcientcapacity.Otherwise,ashort
circuit,overheating,orremayresult.
• When installingthe powerlines, donot apply tensionto thecables. Ifthe con-
nectionsareloosened,thecablescansnaporbreakandoverheatingorremay
result.
• Be sure to ground the unit. Do not connect the ground wire to gas or water pipes,
lightning rods, or telephone grounding lines. If the unit is not properly grounded,
electric shock may result.
• Use circuit breakers (ground fault interrupter, isolating switch (+B fuse), and
molded case circuit breaker) with the specied capacity. If the circuit breaker
capacityislargerthanthespeciedcapacity,breakdownorremayresult.
1.4. Before starting the test run
Caution:
• Turn on the main power switch more than 12 hours before starting operation.
Starting operation just afterturning on the power switch canseverely damage
the internal parts. Keep the main power switch turned on during the operation
season.
• Before starting operation, check that all panels, guards and other protective parts
arecorrectlyinstalled.Rotating,hot,orhighvoltagepartscancauseinjuries.
• Do not touch any switch with wet hands. Electric shock may result.
• Donottouchtherefrigerantpipeswithbarehandsduringoperation.Therefriger-
antpipesarehotorcolddependingontheconditionoftheowingrefrigerant.If
youtouchthepipes,burnsorfrostbitemayresult.
• Afterstoppingoperation,besuretowaitatleastveminutesbeforeturningoff
themainpowerswitch.Otherwise,waterleakageorbreakdownmayresult.
1.5. Using R32 refrigerant air conditioners
Caution:
• Use C1220 copper phosphorus, for copper and copper alloy seamless pipes, to
connect the refrigerant pipes. Make sure the insides of the pipes are clean and
donotcontainanyharmfulcontaminantssuchassulfuriccompounds,oxidants,
debris, ordust. Use pipeswith the speciedthickness. (Refer to4.1.) Note the
followingifreusingexistingpipesthatcarriedR22refrigerant.
- Replace the existing are nuts and are the ared sections again.
- Do not use thin pipes. (Refer to 4.1.)
• Storethepipestobeusedduringinstallationindoorsandkeepbothendsofthe
pipessealed untiljust beforebrazing.(Leave elbowjoints, etc.in theirpackag-
ing.)If dust,debris, ormoisture entersthe refrigerantlines, oildeterioration or
compressorbreakdownmayresult.
• Use ester oil, ether oil, alkylbenzene oil (small amount) as the refrigeration oil
applied tothe ared sections. Ifmineral oil ismixed in the refrigerationoil, oil
deterioration may result.
• Servicingshallbeperformedonlyasrecommendedbythemanufacturer.
• Do not use refrigerant other than R32 refrigerant.
• UsethefollowingtoolsspecicallydesignedforusewithR32refrigerant.
The following tools are necessary to use R32 refrigerant. Contact your nearest
dealer for any questions.
