Brewing drinks

General steps

1Fill the water tank with tap water and fill the bean hopper with beans.

2Press the on/off button to switch on the machine.

-The machine starts heating up and performs the automatic rinsing cycle. During heating up, the

lights in the drinks icons light up and go out slowly one by one.

-When all lights in the drink icons light up continuously, the machine is ready for use.

3Place a cup under the coffee dispensing spout. Slide the coffee dispensing spout up or down to

adjust its height to the size of the cup or glass you are using (Fig. 1).

Personalizing drinks

This machine allows you to adjust the settings of a drink to your own preference. After selecting a

drink you can:

1Adjust the aroma strength by tapping the aroma strength icon (Fig. 2). There are 3 strengths, the

lowest is the mildest and the highest is the strongest.

2Adjust the drink quantity by tapping the drink quantity (Fig. 3) and/or the milk quantity icon

(specific types only). There are 3 quantities: low, medium and high.

You can also adjust the coffee temperature to your own preference (see 'Adjusting the coffee

temperature').

Brewing coffee with beans

1To brew a coffee, tap the drink icon of your choice.

-The aroma strength and quantity lights go on and show the previously selected setting.

-You can now adjust the drink to your preferred taste (see 'Personalizing drinks').

2Press the start/stop button.

-The light in the drink icon flashes while the drink is being dispensed.

Specific types only: An americano is made of espresso and water. When you brew an americano,

the machine first dispenses an espresso and then water.

3To stop dispensing coffee before the machine is finished, press the start/stop button again.

To brew 2 coffees at the same time, tap the drink icon twice. The 2x light lights up.

Brewing milk-based drinks with LatteGo (milk container)

LatteGo consists of a milk container, a frame and a storage lid. To avoid leakage, make sure the

frame and the milk container are properly assembled before you fill the milk container.

1To assemble LatteGo, first insert the top of the milk container under the hook at the top of the

frame (Fig. 4). Then press home the bottom part of the milk container. You hear a click when it locks

into place (Fig. 5).

Note: Make sure that the milk container and the frame are clean before you connect them.

2Slightly tilt LatteGo and put it on the hot water spout (Fig. 6). Then press it home until it locks into

place (Fig. 7).

3Fill LatteGo with milk up to the level indicated on the milk container for the drink you are brewing

(Fig. 8). Do not fill the milk container beyond the maximum indication.

If you have personalized the milk quantity, you may need to fill the milk container with more or

less milk than indicated for this drink on LatteGo.

Always use milk coming directly from the fridge for optimal results.

4Place a cup on the drip tray.

5Tap the milk-based drink icon of your choice.

-You can now adjust the drink to your own preference (see 'Personalizing drinks').

6Press the start/stop button.

-The light in the drink icon flashes while the drink is being dispensed. When you brew a

cappuccino or latte macchiato, the machine first dispenses milk and then coffee. When you

brew caffè latte, the machine first dispenses coffee and then milk.

-To stop dispensing milk before the machine has dispensed the preset amount, press the

start/stop button.

7To stop dispensing the complete drink (milk and coffee) before the machine is finished, press and

hold the start/stop button.

Frothing milk with classic milk frother

Always use milk coming directly from the fridge for the best foam quality.

1Tilt the black silicone handle on the machine to the left and slide the milk frother onto it (Fig. 9).

2Fill a milk jug with with approx. 100 ml milk for cappuccino and approx. 150 ml milk for latte

macchiato.

3Insert the milk frother approx. 1 cm into the milk.

4Tap the steam icon (Fig. 10).

-The light in the steam icon goes on and the start light starts pulsing.

5Press the start/stop button to froth the milk (Fig. 11).

-The machine starts heating up, steam is forced into the milk and the milk is frothed.

6When the milk foam in the milk jug has reached the required volume, press the start/stop button

again to stop frothing milk.

Never froth milk longer than 90 seconds. The frothing automatically stops after 90 seconds.

You do not have to move the milk jug during milk frothing to get the best milk froth quality.

Brewing coffee with pre-ground coffee

You can choose to use pre-ground coffee instead of beans, for example if you prefer a different coffee

variety or decaffeinated coffee.

1Press the on/off button to switch on the machine and wait until it is ready for use.

2Open the lid of the pre-ground coffee compartment and pour one leveled measuring scoop of pre-

ground coffee into it (Fig. 12). Then close the lid.

3Place a cup under the coffee dispensing spout.

4Select a single drink.

5Press the aroma strength icon for 3 seconds (Fig. 13).

-The pre-ground coffee light goes on and the start light starts pulsing.

6Press the start/stop button.

7To stop dispensing coffee before the machine is finished, press the start/stop button again.

With pre-ground coffee you can only brew one coffee at a time.

Pre-ground coffee is not a setting that is saved as a previous selected strength setting. Each time

you want to use pre-ground coffee, you need to press the aroma strength icon for 3 seconds.

When you select pre-ground coffee, you cannot select a different aroma strength.

Dispensing hot water

1If attached, remove LatteGo or the milk frother.

2Tap the hot water icon (Fig. 14).

-The drink quantity lights go on and show the previous selected drink setting for hot water.

3Adjust the hot water quantity to your preference by tapping the drink quantity icon (Fig. 3).

4Press the start/stop button.

-The light in the hot water icon flashes and hot water is dispensed from the hot water spout (Fig.

15).

5To stop dispensing hot water before the machine is finished, press the start/stop button again.

Adjusting machine settings

Adjusting the stand-by time

1Press the on/off button to switch off the machine.

2When the machine is switched off: press and hold the Calc / Clean icon (Fig. 16) until the Calc /

Clean light and the Aroma strength lights go on (Fig. 17).

3Tap the Aroma strength icon to select the required stand-by time: 15, 30, 60 or 180 minutes.

Respectively 1, 2, 3 or 4 lights of the Aroma strenght icon light up.

4When you have finished setting the stand-by time, press the start/stop button. The machine

switches off.

5Press the on/off button to switch on the machine again.

Programming the highest default setting of your drinks

The machine has 3 default settings for each drink: low, medium, high. You can only adjust the quantity

of the highest setting. The new quantity can be stored as soon as the start light starts to pulse.

Before you start programming the quantity of a milk drink, assemble LatteGo and pour milk in it.

1To adjust the highest quantity setting, press and hold the icon of the drink you want to adjust for 3

seconds.

-The upper light of the drinks quantity icon and the upper light of the milk quantity icon (specific

types only) starts to pulse and the start/stop button starts to pulse, indicating that you are in

programming mode.

2Press the start/stop button. The machine starts to brew the selected beverage.

-The start light lights up continuously at first. When the machine is ready to store the adjusted

volume, the start/stop light starts to pulse.

3Press the start/stop button again when the cup contains the desired quantity of coffee or milk.

-In case of cappuccino or latte macchiato, first the milk will be dispensed. Press the start/stop

button when the cup contains the desired milk quantity. The machine automatically starts

dispensing the coffee. Press the start/stop button again when the cup contains the desired

quantity.

After you have programmed the new highest default quantity for a drink, the machine will dispense

this new amount each time you select the highest quantity of this drink.

You can only adjust the highest default quantity level.

If you want to go back to the default quantity settings, see ' Restoring factory settings'.

Adjusting the coffee temperature

Machines without temperature icon

1 switch offPress the on/off button to the machine.

2When the machine is switched off: press and hold the coffee quantity icon until the lights in this

icon go on (Fig. 18).

3Tap the quantity icon to select the required temperature: normal, high or max.

-Respectively 1, 2 or 3 lights are on.

4When you have finished setting the coffee temperature, press the start/stop button.

5Press the on/off button to switch on the machine again.

If you do not switch off the machine yourself, it will switch off automatically after some time.

Machines with temperature icon (EP3221 only)

1Tap the coffee temperature icon repeatedly to select the desired temperature.

Restoring factory settings

The machine offers you the possibility to restore the drinks default settings at any moment.

You can only restore the default settings when the machine is switched off.

1Press the on/off button to switch the machine off.

2Press and hold the espresso icon for 3 seconds.

-The middle lights in the drink setting icons light up. The start/stop light starts to pulse, indicating

that the settings are ready to be restored.

3Press the start/stop button to confirm you want to restore the settings.

4Press the on/off button to switch on the machine again.

Adjusting grinder settings

You can change the coffee strength with the grind setting knob inside the bean container. The lower

the grind setting, the finer the coffee beans are ground and the stronger the coffee. There are 12

different grind settings you can choose from.

The machine has been set up to get the best taste out of your coffee beans. Therefore we advise you

not to adjust the grinder settings until you have brewed 100-150 cups (approx. 1 month of use).

You can only adjust the grind settings when the machine is grinding coffee beans. You need to

brew 2 to 3 drinks before you can taste the full difference.

Do not turn the grind setting knob more than one notch at a time to prevent damage to the grinder.

1Place a cup under the coffee dispensing spout.

2Open the lid of the coffee bean hopper.

3Tap the espresso icon and then press the start/stop button.

4When the grinder starts grinding, press down the grind setting knob and turn it to the left or right.

Deactivate the beeps of the control panel

1Press the on/off button to switch off the machine.

2When the machine is switched off, tap and hold the coffee icon (espresso lungo icon for EP3221)

until the light in the icon goes on. The start light starts flashing.

3Tap the coffee icon again to deactivate the beeps of the control panel. The light in the coffee icon

goes out.

4Press the start/stop button to confirm your choice.

5Press the on/off button to switch on the machine again. The beeps of the control panel have now

been deactivated.

Note: If the light in the coffee icon does not go on after tapping and holding the icon, this means that

the beeps of the control panel already have been deactivated. To activate them again, tap the icon

again and confirm by pressing the start/stop button.

The beeps in the on/off button and in the start/stop button cannot be deactivated.

Removing the brew group from the machine

1Switch off the machine.

2Remove the water tank and open the service door (Fig. 20).

3Press the PUSH handle (Fig. 21) and pull at the grip of the brew group to remove it from the

machine (Fig. 22).

Reinserting the brew group

Before you slide the brew group back into the machine, make sure it is in the correct position.

Cleaning the brew group under the tap

1Remove the brew group (see 'Removing and inserting the brew group').

2Rinse the brew group thoroughly with water. Carefully clean the upper filter (Fig. 30) of the brew

group.

3Let the brew group air-dry before you place it back. Do not dry the brew group with a cloth to

prevent fibers from collecting inside the brew group.

Cleaning the brew group with the coffee oil remover tablets

Only use Philips coffee oil remover tablets.

1Put a cup under the coffee spout. Fill the water tank with fresh water.

2Put a coffee oil remover tablet in the pre-ground coffee compartment.

3Tap the coffee icon and then press the aroma strength icon for 3 seconds to select the pre-ground

coffee function (Fig. 2).

4Do not add pre-ground coffee. Press the the start/stop button to start the brewing cycle. When

half a cup of water has been brewed, unplug the machine.

5Let the coffee oil remover solution act for at least 15 minutes.

6Insert the mains plug back into a wall socket and switch on the machine to complete the brewing

cycle. Empty the cup.

7Remove the water tank and open the service door. Remove the brew group (see 'Removing the

brew group from the machine') and rinse it thoroughly under the tap.

8Reinsert the brew group and water tank and place a cup under the coffee spout.

9Tap the coffee icon and then press the aroma strength icon for 3 seconds to select the pre-ground

coffee function (Fig. 2). Do not add pre-ground coffee. Press the start/stop button to start the

brewing cycle. Repeat this twice. Empty the cup.

Lubricating the brew group

Lubricate the brew group every 2 months, to ensure that the moving parts continue to move smoothly.

1Apply a thin layer of grease on the piston (grey part) of the brew group (Fig. 31).

2Apply a thin layer of grease around the shaft (grey part) in the bottom of the brew group (Fig. 32).

3Apply a thin layer of grease to the rails on both sides (Fig. 33).

Cleaning LatteGo (milk container)

Cleaning LatteGo after every use

1Remove LatteGo from the machine (Fig. 34).

2Pour out any remaining milk.

3Press the release button and remove the milk container from the frame of LatteGo (Fig. 35).

4Clean all parts in the dishwasher or under the tap with lukewarm water and some washing-up

liquid.

Cleaning the classic milk frother

Cleaning the classic milk frother after every use

Clean the milk frother each time you use it for hygiene reasons and to avoid the build-up of milk

residues.

1Place a cup under the milk frother.

2Tap the steam icon and then press the start/stop button to start dispensing steam and to

remove any milk that may be left inside the milk frother.

3To stop dispensing steam after a few seconds, press the start/stop button again.

4Clean the milk frother with a damp cloth.

Daily cleaning of the classic milk frother

1Let the milk frother cool down completely.

2Tilt the milk frother to the left (Fig. 36) and remove both the metal part and the silicone part (Fig.

37).

3Disassemble the two parts (Fig. 38) and rinse them with fresh water or clean them in the

dishwasher. Make sure that the small hole on the metal tube (Fig. 39) is completely clean and not

clogged by milk residues.

4Reassemble the two milk frother parts and reattach the milk frother to the machine.

AquaClean water filter

Your machine is AquaClean enabled. You can place the AquaClean water filter in the water tank to

preserve the taste of your coffee. It also diminishes the need for descaling by reducing limescale

build-up in your machine. You can purchase an AquaClean water filter from your local retailer, from

authorized service centers or online at . www.philips.com/parts-and-accessories

AquaClean icon and light

Your machine is equipped with an AquaClean water filter light (Fig. 40) to indicate the status of the

filter. Use the table below to see what actions are required when the light is on or when it is flashing.

When you use the machine for the first time, the AquaClean light starts flashing

orange. This indicates that you can start using the AquaClean water filter. If you do

not activate an AquaClean water filter, the light will switch off automatically after a

while.

Once you have installed the filter and activated it with the AquaClean icon, the

AquaClean light turns blue to confirm that the AquaClean water filter is active.

When the filter is exhausted, the AquaClean light starts flashing orange again to

remind you to replace the filter with a new one.

Deactivating the AquaClean reminder

If you do not want to use Philips AquaClean water filters anymore, you can always deactivate the

AquaClean reminders (AquaClean light flashing orange):

1Press the on/off button to switch off the machine.

2When the machine is switched off, press and hold the AquaClean icon until the light in this icon

goes on. The start light starts flashing.

3Tap the AquaClean icon again to deactivate the reminders. The light in the AquaClean icon goes

off.

4Press the start/stop button to confirm your choice.

5Press the on/off button to switch on the machine again. The AquaClean reminders are now

deactivated.

Note: The activation of a new AquaClean filter will automatically re-activate the AquaClean reminders.

Setting the water hardness

We advise you to adjust the water hardness to the water hardness in your region for optimal

performance and a longer lifetime of the machine. This also prevents you from having to descale the

machine too often. The default water hardness setting is 4: hard water.

Use the water hardness test strip supplied in the box to determine the water

hardness in your region:

1Immerse the water hardness test strip in tap water or hold it under the tap for 1 second (Fig. 45).

2Wait 1 minute. The number of squares on the test strip that turn red indicate the water hardness

(Fig. 46).

Set the machine to the correct water hardness:

1 switch off Press the on/off button to the machine.

2When the machine is switched off, tap and hold the aroma strength icon until all lights in the icon

go on (Fig. 2).

3Tap the aroma strength icon 1, 2, 3 or 4 times. The number of lights that are on should be the same

as the number of red squares on the test strip (Fig. 47). When there are no red squares on the test

strip (so all squares are green) please select 1 light.

4When you have set the correct water hardness, press the start/stop button.

5Press the on/off icon to switch on the machine.

Since you only set the water hardness once, the aroma strength function is used to select the water

hardness. This does not affect the aroma strength of the drinks you make afterwards.

Descaling procedure (30 min.)

Please use Philips descaler only. Under no circumstances should you use a descaler based on sulfuric

acid, hydrochloric acid, sulfamic or acetic acid (vinegar) as this may damage the water circuit in your

machine and not dissolve the limescale properly. Not using the Philips descaler will void your

warranty. Failure to descale the appliance will also void your warranty. You can buy Philips descaling

solution in the online shop at .www.philips.com/coffee-care

When the Calc / Clean light starts to flash slowly, you need to descale the machine.

The 'water tank empty' light is on

-The water tank is almost empty. Fill the water tank with fresh water to the

maximum level indication.

-The water tank is not in place. Place back the water tank.

The 'empty coffee grounds container' light is on

-The coffee grounds container is full. Remove and empty the coffee grounds

container while the machine is switched on. Wait at least 5 seconds before you

reinsert the container.

The alarm light is on

-The coffee grounds container and/or the drip tray is not in place or not placed

correctly. Place back the coffee grounds container and/or the drip tray and make

sure they are in the correct position.

-The service door is open. Remove the water tank and make sure the service door

is closed.

The alarm light is flashing

-The brew group is not in place or not placed correctly. Remove the brew group

and make sure it is locked into place. See chapter 'Removing and inserting the

brew group' for step-by-step instructions.

-The brew group is blocked. Remove the brew group and rinse it with water under

the tap. Then lubricate the brew group and place it back into the machine. See

chapter 'Cleaning and maintenance' for step-by-step instructions.

The alarm light is on and the start light flashes.

Some air is trapped inside the machine. To release the air from the machine, fill the

water tank with water, place a cup under the classic milk frother and press the

flashing start/stop button.

Be careful: small jets of hot water will be dispensed from the classic milk frother to

release the air.

AquaClean light is flashing: place or replace the AquaClean water filter and activate

it. See chapter 'AquaClean water filter' for step-by-step instructions.

Solution

Descaling light is flashing slowly: Descale the machine (see 'Descaling procedure (30

min.)').

The lights in the drink icons light up and go out one by one.

The machine is heating up and/or trying to release the air that was drawn into the

machine. Wait until all drink lights light up continuously.

The lights of all warning icons are flashing.

Reset the machine by unplugging it and plugging it back in. Before switching the

machine back on, follow these steps:

-Remove the AquaClean water filter from the water tank.

-Place back the water tank. Push it into the machine as far as possible to make

sure it is in the right position.

-Open the lid of the pre-ground coffee compartment and check if this is clogged

with coffee powder. To clean it, insert a spoon handle into the pre-ground coffee

compartment and move the handle up and down until the clogged ground

coffee falls down (Fig. 27). Remove the brew group and remove all ground coffee

that has fallen down. Place back the clean brew group.

-Switch the machine back on.

If the problem is solved the AquaClean filter was not prepared well. Prepare the

AquaClean filter before placing it back by following steps 1 and 2 in chapter

'Activating the AquaClean water filter (5 min).

If the lights continue to flash, the machine could be overheated. Switch the machine

off, wait 30 minutes and switch it on again. If the lights are still flashing, contact the

Consumer Care Center in your country. For contact details, see the international

warranty leaflet.

The coffee is watery. The brew group is dirty or needs

to be lubricated.

Remove the brew group (see 'Removing

the brew group from the machine'),

rinse it under the tap and leave it to dry.

Then lubricate the moving parts (see

'Lubricating the brew group').

The machine is performing its

self-adjustment procedure. This

procedure is started

automatically when you use the

machine for the first time, when

you change to another type of

coffee beans or after a long

period of non-use.

Disassemble LatteGo and rinse both

parts under the tap or clean them in the

dishwasher (see 'Cleaning LatteGo after

Machines with classic milk

frother: the milk frother is dirty.

Thoroughly clean the milk frother (see

'Cleaning the classic milk frother ').

 The type of milk used is not

suitable for frothing.

Different types of milk result in different

amounts of froth and different froth

qualities. We have tested the following

milk types which proved to deliver a

good milk froth result: semi-skimmed or

full-fat cow's milk and lactose-free milk.

Milk is leaking from the

bottom of the LatteGo

milk container.

The frame and the milk

container are not assembled

properly.

First insert the top of the milk container

under the hook at the top of the frame.

Then press home the bottom part of the

milk container. You hear a click when it

locks into place.

The machine seems to

be leaking.

the internal circuit and brew

the internal system directly into

Brygning af mælkebaserede drikke med LatteGo

(mælkebeholder)

LatteGo består af en mælkebeholder, en ramme og et opbevaringslåg. For at undgå lækage skal du

sørge for, at rammen og mælkebeholderen er samlet korrekt, inden du fylder mælkebeholderen.

1 Du samler LatteGo ved først at indsætte toppen af mælkebeholderen under krogen øverst på

rammen (fig. 4). Tryk derefter den nederste del af mælkebeholderen på plads. Du hører et klik, når

den låser på plads (fig. 5).

Bemærk: Sørg for, at mælkebeholderen og rammen er rene, inden du samler dem.

2 Vip LatteGo en smule, og sæt den på varmtvandsudløbet (fig. 6). Tryk derefter på den, indtil den

låser på plads (fig. 7).

3 Fyld LatteGo med mælk op til det niveau, der er angivet på mælkebeholderen for den drik, du

brygger (fig. 8). Fyld kun mælkebeholderen til maksimum-mærket.

6 Tryk på start/stop -knappen.

-Lyset i drink-ikonet blinker, mens kaffen dispenseres. Hvis du brygger cappuccino eller latte

macchiato, dispenserer maskinen først mælk og derefter kaffe. Hvis du brygger café latte,

dispenserer maskinen først kaffe og derefter mælk.

-Hvis du vil afbryde dispenseringen af mælk, inden maskinen har dispenseret den

forudindstillede mængde, skal du trykke på start/stop -knappen.

7 Tryk på start/stop -knappen, og hold den inde, hvis du vil stoppe med at dispensere hele drikken

(mælk og kaffe), inden maskinen er færdig.

Skumning af mælk med den klassiske mælkeskummer

Brug altid mælk direkte fra køleskabet, da det giver det bedste skum.

1 Vip det sorte silikonehåndtag på maskinen mod venstre, og skub mælkeskummeren over på det

(fig. 9).

2 Fyld en mælkekande med ca. 100 ml mælk til cappuccino og ca. 150 ml mælk til latte macchiato.

3 Sæt mælkeskummeren ca. 1 cm ned i mælken.

4 Tryk på dampikonet (fig. 10).

-Lyset i dampikonet tændes, og startindikatoren begynder at pulsere.

5 Tryk på start/stop -knappen for at skumme mælken (fig. 11).

-Maskinen varmes op, dampen presses ned i mælken, og mælken skummes.

6 Når mælkeskummet i mælkekanden har nået den nødvendige mængde, skal du trykke på

start/stop -knappen igen for at stoppe med at skumme mælken.

Skum aldrig mælken længere end 90 sekunder. Skumningen stopper automatisk efter 90 sekunder.

Du behøver ikke at bevæge mælkekanden under skumningen for at få det bedste skum.

Kaffebrygning med formalet kaffe

Du kan vælge at bruge formalet kaffe i stedet for kaffebønner, hvis du f.eks. foretrækker en anden

kaffevariant eller koffeinfri kaffe.

1 Tænd maskinen ved at trykke på on/off-knappen, og vent indtil den er klar til brug.

2 Åbn låget på beholderen til formalet kaffe, og hæld én måleske formalet kaffe i beholderen (fig. 12).

Luk derefter låget.

3 Sæt en kop under kaffeudløbsrøret.

4 Vælg en drik.

5 Tryk på ikonet for aromastyrke i 3 sekunder (fig. 13).

-Indikatoren for formalet kaffe lyser, og startindikatoren begynder at pulsere.

6 Tryk på start/stop -knappen.

7 Tryk på start/stop -knappen igen, hvis du vil stoppe dispenseringen, inden maskinen er færdig.

Du kan kun brygge én kop kaffe ad gangen med formalet kaffe.

Formalet kaffe er ikke en indstilling, som gemmes som en tidligere valgt styrkeindstilling. Hver gang

du vil bruge formalet kaffe, skal du trykke på ikonet for aromastyrke i 3 sekunder.

Når du vælger formalet kaffe, kan du ikke vælge en anden aromastyrke.

Dispensering af varmt vand

1 Fjern LatteGo eller mælkeskummeren, hvis den sidder på.

2 Tryk på ikonet (fig. 14) for varmt vand.

-Indikatoren for kaffemængde lyser og viser den senest valgte drink-indstilling for varmt vand.

3 Juster mængden af varmt vand efter eget valg ved at trykke på ikonet (fig. 3) for kaffemængde.

4 Tryk på start/stop -knappen.

-Lyset i ikonet for varmt vand blinker, og der dispenseres varmt vand fra varmtvandsudløbet (fig.

15).

5 Tryk på start/stop -knappen igen, hvis du vil stoppe dispenseringen af varmt vand, inden

maskinen er færdig.

Justering af standbytiden

1 Tryk på on/off-knappen for at slukke maskinen.

2 Når maskinen er slukket: Tryk og hold nede på Calc/Clean-ikonet (fig. 16), indtil Calc/Clean-lampen

og lampen for aromastyrke tændes (fig. 17).

3 Tryk på ikonet for aromastyrke for at vælge den ønskede standbytid: 15, 30, 60 eller 180 minutter.

Henholdsvis 1, 2, 3 eller 4 af aromastyrkeikonets lamper lyser op.

4 Når du er færdig med at indstille standbytiden, skal du trykke på start/stop-knappen. Maskinen

slukkes.

5 Tænd maskinen igen ved at trykke på on/off-knappen.

Regulering af formalingsindstillinger

Du kan ændre kaffestyrken ved hjælp af knappen til formalingsindstillinger inde i

kaffebønnebeholderen. Jo lavere formalingsindstillingen er, jo finere males kaffebønnerne, og jo

stærkere bliver kaffen. Du kan vælge mellem 12 forskellige formalingsindstillinger.

Maskinen er indstillet til at få den bedste smag ud af dine kaffebønner. Vi anbefaler derfor, at du ikke

justerer kværnindstillingerne, før du har brygget 100-150 kopper kaffe (ca. 1 måneds brug).

Du kan kun justere formalingsindstilling, når maskinen maler kaffebønner. Det er først efter to eller

tre drikke, du vil kunne smage den fulde forskel.

Drej ikke knappen til formalingsindstillinger mere end ét hak ad gangen for at undgå beskadigelse

af kværnen.

1 Sæt en kop under kaffeudløbsrøret.

2 Åbn låget til beholderen til kaffebønner.

3 Tryk på espresso-ikonet, og tryk derefter på start/stop -knappen.

4 Når kværnen begynder at male kaffen, skal du trykke knappen til formalingsindstillinger ned og

dreje den til venstre eller højre. (fig. 19)

Deaktiver kontrolpanelets bip

1 Tryk på on/off-knappen for at slukke maskinen.

2 Når maskinen er slukket, skal du trykke på kaffeikonet (espresso lungo-ikonet for EP3221) og holde

det inde, indtil alle lysene i ikonet tændes. Startindikatoren begynder at blinke.

3 Tryk igen på kaffeikonet for at deaktivere kontrolpanelets biplyde. Lyset i kaffeikonet slukker.

4 Tryk start/stop-knappen for at bekræfte dit valg.

5 Tænd maskinen igen ved at trykke på on/off-knappen. Kontrolpanelets biplyde er nu blevet

deaktiveret.

Bemærk: Hvis lyset i kaffeikonet ikke tændes, når du trykker på og holder ikonet nede, betyder det, at

Brühen von Getränken

Allgemeine Schritte

1Füllen Sie den Wasserbehälter mit Leitungswasser und den Kaffeebohnenbehälter mit

Kaffeebohnen.

2Drücken Sie den Ein-/Ausschalter, um die Maschine einzuschalten.

-Die Maschine beginnt aufzuheizen und führt den automatischen Spülzyklus durch. Während

sich das Gerät aufheizt, leuchten die Getränke-Symbole auf und erlöschen dann langsam, eines

nach dem anderen.

-Sobald alle Getränke-Symbole ständig aufleuchten, ist die Kaffeemaschine betriebsbereit.

3Stellen Sie eine Tasse unter den Kaffeeauslauftrichter. Schieben Sie den Kaffeeauslauftrichter nach

oben oder unten, um die Höhe an die Größe der verwendeten Tasse oder des verwendeten (Abb. 1)

Glases anzupassen.

Getränke personalisieren

Mit diesem Gerät können Sie die Einstellung eines Getränks Ihren Wünschen gemäß anpassen.

Nachdem Sie ein Getränk ausgewählt haben, können Sie:

1die Aromastärke durch Tippen auf das Aromastärke-Symbol (Abb. 2) anpassen. Es gibt 3 Stärken,

wobei die niedrigste Stufe den mildesten und die höchste Stufe den stärksten Kaffee braut.

2Stellen Sie die Getränkemenge durch Tippen auf das Getränkemenge- (Abb. 3) bzw. das

Milchmenge-Symbol ein (nur bestimmte Gerätetypen). Es gibt 3 Mengenstufen: niedrig, mittel und

hoch.

Sie können auch die Kaffeetemperatur je nach Vorliebe (siehe 'Die Kaffeetemperatur anpassen')

einstellen.

Kaffee aus Kaffeebohnen zubereiten

1Um eine Tasse Kaffee zuzubereiten, tippen Sie auf das Getränke-Symbol Ihrer Wahl.

-Die Symbole für Aromastärke und Getränkemenge leuchten auf und zeigen die zuvor gewählte

Einstellung an.

2Drücken Sie die Start/Stopp -Taste.

Nur bestimmte Typen: Ein Americano besteht aus Espresso und Wasser. Wenn Sie einen

Americano brühen, gibt das Gerät zuerst Kaffee und dann Wasser aus.

3Um die Ausgabe von Kaffee zu beenden, bevor die Kaffeemaschine fertig ist, drücken Sie nochmals

Brühen von milchhaltigen Getränken mit LatteGo

(Milchbehälter)

LatteGo besteht aus einem Milchbehälter, einem Rahmen und einem Aufbewahrungsdeckel. Um

ein Auslaufen zu vermeiden, achten Sie darauf, dass der Rahmen und der Milchbehälter

ordnungsgemäß zusammengesetzt sind, bevor Sie den Milchbehälter füllen.

1Um LatteGo anzubringen, setzen Sie zuerst den oberen Teil des Milchbehälters unter dem Haken

am oberen Ende des Rahmens (Abb. 4). Drücken Sie dann das Unterteil des Milchbehälters wieder

zurück. Sie hören ein Klicken, wenn er einrastet (Abb. 5).

Hinweis: Stellen Sie sicher, dass der Milchbehälter und der Rahmen sauber sind, bevor Sie sie

zusammensetzen.

2Kippen Sie LatteGo leicht und setzen Sie ihn auf den Heißwasserauslauftrichter (Abb. 6). Drücken

Sie ihn wieder hinein, bis er einrastet (Abb. 7).

3Füllen Sie LatteGo mit Milch bis zu der am Milchbehälter angebrachten Markierung für das Getränk,

das Sie zubereiten (Abb. 8). Füllen Sie den Milchbehälter nicht über die angezeigte Maximalhöhe

hinaus.

Bei der Zubereitung individueller Milchgetränke müssen Sie den Milchbehälter mit mehr

beziehungsweise weniger Milch füllen, als für diese Getränke auf LatteGo angegeben.

Für optimale Ergebnisse verwenden Sie immer direkt aus dem Kühlschrank kommende Milch.

4Stellen Sie eine Tasse auf die Abtropfschale.

5Tippen Sie auf das Symbol für das milchhaltige Getränk Ihrer Wahl.

-Sie können das Getränk nun gemäß Ihrer persönlichen Vorlieben (siehe 'Getränke

personalisieren') anpassen.

6Drücken Sie die Start/Stopp -Taste.

-Das Symbol für das Getränk blinkt, während das Getränk ausgegeben wird. Wenn Sie einen

Cappuccino oder Latte Macchiato zubereiten, gibt das Gerät zuerst Milch und dann Kaffee aus.

Wenn Sie Café Latte brühen, gibt die Kaffeemaschine zuerst Kaffee und anschließend Milch aus.

-Um die Ausgabe von Milch zu stoppen, bevor die Kaffeemaschine die voreingestellte Menge

ausgegeben hat, drücken Sie die Start/Stopp -Taste.

7Um die Ausgabe des Getränks (Milch und Kaffee) zu beenden, bevor die Kaffeemaschine damit

fertig ist, drücken Sie die Start/Stopp -Taste.

Milch mit dem klassischen Milchaufschäumer aufschäumen

Verwenden Sie immer Milch direkt aus dem Kühlschrank. So erhalten Sie die optimale

Schaumqualität.

1Kippen Sie den schwarzen Silikon-Griff auf der Kaffeemaschine nach links und schieben Sie den

Milchaufschäumer darauf (Abb. 9).

2Füllen Sie ein Milchkännchen mit etwa 100 ml Milch für einen Cappuccino oder mit etwa 150 ml 

Milch für einen Latte Macchiato.

3Tauchen Sie den Milchaufschäumer ca. 1 cm tief in die Milch.

4Tippen Sie auf das Dampf-Symbol (Abb. 10).

-Das Dampf-Symbol leuchtet auf und die Start-Anzeige beginnt zu blinken.

5Drücken Sie die Start/Stopp -Taste, um die Milch aufzuschäumen.

-Die Espressomaschine beginnt mit dem Aufheizen; Dampf wird durch die Luft gepresst, die

dadurch aufgeschäumt wird.

6Wenn der Milchschaum im Milchkännchen das gewünschte Volumen erreicht hat, drücken Sie

wieder die Start/Stopp -Taste, um den Aufschäumvorgang zu beenden.

Schäumen Sie Milch nie länger als 90 Sekunden lang auf. Das Aufschäumen wird automatisch nach

90 Sekunden beendet.

Um die beste Milchschaumqualität zu erhalten, ist es nicht notwendig, das Milchkännchen während

des Aufschäumens zu bewegen.

Brühen von Kaffee aus vorgemahlenem Kaffee

Sie können auch bereits gemahlenen Kaffee anstelle von Kaffeebohnen verwenden, z. B. wenn Sie

eine andere Kaffeesorte oder entkoffeinierten Kaffee bevorzugen.

1Schalten Sie die Maschine durch Drücken des Ein-/Ausschalters ein, und warten Sie, bis sie

betriebsbereit ist.

2Öffnen Sie den Deckel des Behälters für gemahlenen Kaffee, und füllen Sie einen Messlöffel

gemahlenen Kaffee in den Behälter (Abb. 12). Schließen Sie dann den Deckel.

3Stellen Sie eine Tasse unter den Kaffeeauslauftrichter.

4Wählen Sie ein einzelnes Getränk aus.

5Drücken Sie 3 Sekunden lang (Abb. 13) das Aromastärke-Symbol.

-Die Anzeige für gemahlenen Kaffee leuchtet auf und die Start-Anzeige beginnt zu blinken.

6Drücken Sie die Start/Stopp -Taste.

7Um die Ausgabe von Kaffee zu beenden, bevor die Kaffeemaschine damit fertig ist, drücken Sie

nochmals die Start/Stopp -Taste.

Mit gemahlenem Kaffee können Sie immer nur jeweils einen Kaffee auf einmal brühen.

Gemahlener Kaffee wird nicht als vorher gewählte Stärkeeinstellung gespeichert. Jedes Mal, wenn

Sie gemahlenen Kaffee verwenden möchten, müssen Sie das Aromastärke-Symbol 3 Sekunden lang

drücken.

Wenn Sie gemahlenen Kaffee auswählen, können Sie keine andere Aromastärke wählen.

Heißes Wasser bereiten

1Entfernen Sie LatteGo beziehungsweise den Milchaufschäumer, falls er angebracht ist.

-Bei Cappuccino oder Latte Macchiato wird zuerst die Milch ausgegeben. Drücken Sie die

Start/Stopp -Taste erneut, wenn die Tasse die gewünschte Menge Kaffee beziehungsweise

Milch enthält. Dann beginnt die Kaffeemaschine automatisch mit der Ausgabe des Kaffees.

Drücken Sie die Start/Stopp -Taste noch einmal, wenn die Tasse die gewünschte Menge

Kaffee beziehungsweise Milch enthält.

Nachdem Sie die neue größte Standardmenge für ein Getränk programmiert haben, wird die Maschine

diese neue Menge jedes Mal ausgeben, wenn Sie die größte Menge dieses Getränks wählen.

Sie können jeweils nur die höchste Stufe der Standardmenge einstellen.

Für die Wiederherstellung der ursprünglichen Mengenstandardeinstellungen, siehe

„Werkseinstellungen wiederherstellen“.

Die Kaffeetemperatur anpassen

Kaffeemaschinen ohne Temperatur-Symbol

1 , um die KaffeemaschineDrücken Sie auf den Ein-/Ausschalter auszuschalten.

2Sobald das Gerät ausgeschaltet ist: Halten Sie das Kaffeemenge-Symbol gedrückt, bis es

aufleuchtet (Abb. 18).

3Tippen Sie auf das Menge-Symbol, um die gewünschte Temperatur auszuwählen: normal, heiß

oder sehr heiß

-Es leuchten jeweils 1, 2 oder 3 Anzeigen auf.

4Wenn Sie die Kaffeetemperatur fertig eingestellt haben, drücken Sie die Start/Stopp -Taste.

5Drücken Sie den Ein-/Ausschalter, um die Maschine wieder einzuschalten.

Wenn Sie die Kaffeemaschine nicht selbst ausschalten, schaltet sie sich nach einiger Zeit

automatisch selbst aus.

Kaffeemaschinen mit Temperatur-Symbol (nur EP3221)

1Tippen Sie wiederholt auf das Symbol für die Kaffeetemperatur, um die gewünschte Temperatur

auszuwählen.

Werkseinstellungen wiederherstellen

Die Kaffeemaschine bietet Ihnen die Möglichkeit, die ursprünglichen Werkseinstellungen jederzeit

wiederherzustellen.

Sie können die ursprünglichen Standardeinstellungen nur wiederherstellen, wenn das Gerät

ausgeschaltet ist.

1Zum Ausschalten der Maschine drücken Sie den Ein-/Ausschalter.

2Halten Sie das Espresso-Symbol 3 Sekunden lang gedrückt.

-Die mittlere Anzeige des Symbols für Getränkeeinstellung leuchtet auf. Die Start/Stopp-Taste

beginnt zu blinken. Damit wird angezeigt, dass das Gerät nun bereit ist, die Einstellungen

wiederherzustellen.

3Drücken Sie die Start/Stopp -Taste, um zu bestätigen, dass Sie die Einstellungen wiederherstellen

möchten.

4Drücken Sie den Ein-/Ausschalter, um die Maschine wieder einzuschalten.

Este aparato se ha probado con café. Aunque se ha limpiado cuidadosamente, es posible que

quede algún residuo de café. Le garantizamos, no obstante, que el aparato es absolutamente nuevo.

El aparato ajusta automáticamente la cantidad de café molido que se utiliza para hacer un café con el

Preparación de bebidas

Pasos generales

1 Llene el depósito de agua con agua del grifo y la tolva de granos, con granos.

2 Pulse el botón de encendido/apagado para encender el aparato.

-La máquina empieza a calentarse y lleva a cabo el ciclo de enjuagado automático. Durante el

calentamiento, los pilotos de los iconos de las bebidas se iluminan y se apagan lentamente de

uno en uno.

-Cuando todos los pilotos de los iconos de las bebidas están iluminados de forma continua, el

aparato está listo para utilizarse.

3 Coloque una taza debajo de la boquilla dispensadora de café. Deslice la boquilla dispensadora de

café arriba o abajo para ajustar la altura al tamaño de la taza o del vaso que esté usando (Fig. 1).

Personalización de bebidas

Este aparato le permite cambiar los ajustes de una bebida a su gusto. Tras seleccionar una bebida,

puede hacer lo siguiente:

1 Ajustar la intensidad del aroma tocando el icono (Fig. 2) de intensidad del aroma. Hay 3

intensidades: la más baja es el más suave y la más alta es la más fuerte.

2 Ajuste la cantidad de bebida tocando el icono de cantidad (Fig. 3) de bebida o de cantidad de

leche (solo en modelos específicos). Hay 3 cantidades: bajo, medio y alto.

También puede ajustar la temperatura del café a su propio gusto (consulte 'Ajuste de la

temperatura del café').

Preparación de café con granos de café

1 Para preparar un café, toque el icono de bebida que desee.

-Los pilotos de intensidad del aroma y cantidad se encenderán y mostrarán el ajuste

seleccionado anteriormente.

-Ahora puede ajustar la bebida al sabor (consulte 'Personalización de bebidas') deseado.

2 Pulse el botón de inicio/parada .

-El piloto del icono de bebida parpadea mientras se está dispensando la bebida.

Solo en modelos específicos: Un café americano está hecho de café expreso y agua. Cuando

prepara un café americano, la máquina dispensa primero un expreso y luego agua.

3 Para detener la dispensación de café antes de que el aparato haya terminado, pulse otra vez el

botón de inicio/parada .

Para preparar 2 cafés a la vez, toque el icono de bebida dos veces. Se encenderá el piloto x2.

El aparato desde estar completamente libre de depósitos de cal antes de empezar a usar el filtro

de agua AquaClean.

Antes de activar el filtro de agua AquaClean, este debe prepararse remojándolo en agua, tal como se

describe más adelante. Si no lo hace, en el aparato podría entrar aire en lugar de agua, lo que provoca

mucho ruido e impide que el aparato prepare café.

1 Asegúrese de que el aparato esté encendido.

2 Sacuda el filtro durante unos 5 segundos (Fig. 41).

3 Sumerja el filtro (Fig. 42) boca abajo en una jarra con agua fría y agítelo/presiónelo.

4 El filtro p83-ya está preparado para su uso y puede introducirse en el depósito de agua.

5 Inserte el filtro en posición vertical en la conexión del filtro del depósito de agua. Presiónelo hasta

el punto (Fig. 43) más bajo posible.

6 Llene el depósito con agua y colóquelo de nuevo en la cafetera.

7 Si está colocado, retire el LatteGo.

8 Coloque un bol debajo de la boquilla dispensadora de agua caliente o el espumador de leche.

9 Pulse el icono AquaClean durante 3 segundos (Fig. 44). El piloto de inicio empezará a parpadear.

10 Pulse el botón de inicio/parada para empezar el proceso de activación.

11 El agua caliente se dispensará desde la boquilla del agua caliente o el espumador de leche

(3 minutos).

12 Cuando el proceso de activación haya terminado, el piloto azul de AquaClean se iluminará para

confirmar que el filtro de agua AquaClean se ha activado correctamente.

Sustitución del filtro de agua AquaClean (5 min)

Cuando hayan pasado 95 litros de agua por el filtro, este dejará de funcionar. El piloto de AquaClean

se ilumina en naranja y comienza a parpadear para recordarle que debe cambiar el filtro. Mientras

parpadea, puede sustituir el filtro sin tener que descalcificar el aparato antes. Si no sustituye el filtro

de agua AquaClean, llegará un momento en el que el piloto naranja se apague. En ese caso, aún

puede sustituir el filtro, pero antes deberá descalcificar el aparato.

Cuando el piloto naranja de AquaClean parpadee:

1 Saque el filtro de agua AquaClean antiguo.

2 Instale un nuevo filtro y actívelo como se describe en el capítulo "Activación del filtro de agua

AquaClean (5 min)".

Sustituya el filtro de agua AquaClean como mínimo cada 3 meses, aunque el aparato no indique

aún que es necesaria la sustitución.

Desactivar el recordatorio de AquaClean

Si no necesita utilizar filtros de agua AquaClean de Philips, siempre puede desactivar los

recordatorios de AquaClean (la luz de AquaClean parpadea en naranja):

1 Pulse el botón de encendido/apagado para apagar el aparato.

2 Cuando la cafetera esté apagada, mantenga pulsado el icono de AquaClean hasta que el piloto del

icono se encienda. El piloto de inicio empezará a parpadear.

3 Toque el icono de AquaClean otra vez para desactivar los recordatorios. El piloto del icono de

AquaClean se apaga.

4 Pulse el botón de inicio/parada para confirmar su elección.

5 Pulse el botón de encendido/apagado para volver a encender el aparato. Los recordatorios de

AquaClean están ahora desactivados.
