Connecting accessories
To connect an accessory
•Connect the accessory to the base of
your phone.
Before using your phone
Battery
The phone battery is partly charged
when you receive your phone. You
need to charge the battery when the
indicator light on the base of the
phone flashes red or when the low
battery message appears on the
screen.
To insert the battery
1Open the battery cover by pressing
slightly on the upper part and sliding it
down the phone.
2Insert the battery.
3Slide the cover back onto the phone.
To charge the battery
1Make sure the battery is inserted.
2Connect the charger to the phone.
Tilt the plug upwards when you
disconnect the accessory.

To disconnect the charger
•Remove the charger by tilting the plug
upwards.
SIM card
You receive a SIM (Subscriber Identity
Module) card when you register with a
network operator. The SIM card keeps
track of your phone number, the
services included in your subscription
and phonebook information. A PIN
code is supplied with the SIM card
and must be entered, if requested,
when you turn on your phone for the
first time.
To insert the SIM card
1Detach the charger (if connected).
2Open the battery cover by pressing
slightly on the upper part and sliding it
down the phone.
3Remove the battery (if it is in place).
4Insert the SIM card into the SIM card
holder.
5Insert the battery.
6Slide the cover back onto the phone.
IMEI number
IMEI (International Mobile Equipment
Identifier) is a 15-digit number. Your
operator can use the IMEI number to
enable a complete barring of your
phone if it is stolen. The number is
printed underneath the battery
A green indicator light on the base of the
phone is turned on during charging. If
the phone is off during charging, a red
indicator light will be turned on.
You can use your phone while it is
charging. You can charge the battery at
any time and for more or less than 2.5
hours. You can interrupt the charging
without damaging the battery.

•From Standby enter *#06#.

•Use a moist cloth when you clean the
screen.
•Only use the stylus provided, or your
fingertips, to tap the screen.

First time start-up
To turn on the phone
1Press and hold down the On/off
button.
2Select Phone on.
3Select a language.
4Enter your PIN, if requested.
5Select Done.
Keylock
Your phone has an automatic keylock
which is turned on as default.
To turn off automatic keylock
1From Standby select Main menu >
Tools > Control panel > Security >
Locks.
2Unmark the check box Automatic
keylock.
To unlock the keyboard
1From Standby press .
2Select Unlock.
To manually lock the keyboard
1From Standby press .
2Select Lock keys.

Before you can use your phone you need
to insert the SIM card, and insert and
charge the battery.
If you make a mistake when you enter
your PIN code, you can delete the
number by pressing . If you enter
the wrong PIN code three times in a row,
the SIM card is blocked. To unblock it,
you need to enter the PUK code
supplied with your SIM card.

to lock and unlock the keyboard.
