General Set Up Procedures
Weight Only Operation
Analyzer Operation
Following are short reference instructions for general set up, weight readings and body fat/body water readings. Please
read the complete instruction manual before first time use for detailed information and helpful illustrations,
as well as for troubleshooting and precautions.
1. Some models have a static cling label on the lens; remove before use. If a battery is included, remove
any plastic wrap from the battery before installation. If there is a red strip under the battery cover,
remove before use.
2. Select (lb), (kg), or (st) with the slide switch on the bottom of the scale. If the switch is recessed into the
scale, please use a small tool which will not damage the scale to move the switch.
3. Place the scale on a flat, hard surface. Carpeted or uneven floors may affect accuracy.
4. The scale needs to be initialized before first use to accurately calculate your weight. To do so, simply
press lightly on the scale platform and release. The display will show “ “,or “ “, and ---- 0000
automatically turn off. Your scale is now ready for use. Note: You will only need to initialize the scale
before first use, after battery replacement, or when the scale has been moved or bumped. At all other
times you may step directly on the scale for a weight reading, or begin entering your personal
data for a body fat/body water analysis.
Your Taylor® Body Fat Scale will operate as a basic weight-reading scale.
1. Step onto the scale platform and remain still.
2. The scale will calculate your weight.
3. The scale will turn off automatically.
4. Err0 If “ ” appears on the display, the scale does not turn on, or you have an inaccurate reading, the
scale needs to be initialized. Press lightly on the scale platform. The LCD will turn on and off
automatically. Step on the platform again for a weight only reading.
The analyzer will use your height, age, gender, and normal/athlete values to calculate your body fat %
and body water %. On screen prompts will lead you through programming your personal data into the
analyzer.
Important: You must have bare feet to use the analyzer function. Please remove your shoes
and socks before operation. For best results, wipe your feet with a damp cloth, leaving
them slightly damp before stepping on the scale.

2. “UP/DOWN”Press button to scroll to your height. Press to enter.“SET”
3. “UP/DOWN” Press button to scroll to your age. Press to enter.“SET”
4. “UP/DOWN”Press button to switch between male and female icons. Press to enter.“SET”
5. “UP/DOWN”Press button to switch between athlete (running man icon on LCD) or normal (no icon
on LCD) modes.
6. “SET”Press . A beep sound indicates set up is complete.
7. Step onto the scale with bare feet and remain still.
8. The weight will appear on the LCD for 2 seconds.
9. The scale will then calculate body fat %. The LCD shows spinning zeros while computing.
10. A beep sounds and the LCD shows body fat %, followed by results for body water % and weight.
11. The scale will turn off automatically.
FAQs
(Frequently Asked Questions)
May I use my body fat scale to get a weight reading only?
Yes, just step on the platform, remain still, and the scale will display your weight.
I tried to weigh myself, and the display showed “Err0” / a blank screen / an
inaccurate reading. Why?
If the scale is moved or bumped, or the battery is replaced, the scale needs to be initialized before use.
To initialize, just press on the platform with your foot. The display will turn on and off. The scale is
ready for use once again.
The scale does not seem to have power. What could be the cause?
The scale may need a new battery, or the battery was not properly installed. Refer to the “Battery
Installation” section of the instruction manual. Be certain any plastic wrapping is removed from the
battery, any red strips are removed from the battery compartment, and the battery connection is
secure. Once a new battery is installed, you will need to initialize the scale (see previous answer).
Why do I need to input my height/age/gender? Do I have to do this to get my weight
only?
Your body fat/body water percentages are calculated based on your weight, height, age and if you are
male or female. Highly fit individuals should also choose the athlete mode option for the most
accurate results. If you want a weight reading only, you do not need to enter this information, just
step on the scale.
How do I save my personal data into memory?
Your scale has a memory function that will save your height, age, gender and normal/athlete
information for future use. (See the “Using Memory” section of the complete manual for detailed
instructions.) After you enter your personal data, the scale emits a beep. You may then pick a memory
location. Use the UP/DOWN buttons to scroll through the memory numbers (1 - 4). When the
number you want to use appears on the screen, press the “Set” button. The scale beeps, indicating
your data is saved.
I have saved my personal data into a memory. How do I use it to get a body fat / body
water reading?
Press and hold the “SET” button for a few seconds to enter Memory Recall mode. One of the
memory numbers will appear on the screen. Press the UP or DOWN button to move between
memory numbers. When the correct number is on the screen, press “SET” to select it. A beep sounds
and your saved data appears on the screen. Step on the scale with bare feet, remain still, and the scale
will calculate your readings.
CAUTION
BIA (Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis) method determines your body fat percentage by sending a harmless
signal through the body. Do not use this product if you have a pacemaker or other internal medical
device. When in doubt, contact your physician.
This analyzer will give accurate body fat readings for a majority of people, but is not calibrated for accurate
body fat readings for the following groups:
Children: Anyone under the age of 18 years
Pregnant Women
