Cool Mist Humidifier/

INSTRUCTIONS
1 UNRAVEL CORD BEFORE USE. Failure to do so could cause overheating and
possible hazard. Always disconnect cord at wall plug before removing the top
lid or when humidifier is not in use.
2 FILL WATER BASE. Remove top lid and place upside down on a flat surface.
Do not set down on the pickup tube. Rinse base, then fill with ordinary cool tap
water to water level marking located on the inside of the base. (Figure 1)
CAUTION: DO NOT OVERFILL. Do not add any type of medication or other
additive to the water.
3REPLACE TOP LID AND INSERT DYNAFILTER™. Remove the outer protective
wrap and insert the DynaFilter cartridge into the recess on the top of the unit
(white filter up). (Figure 2)
4 PLACE HUMIDIFIER IN A SAFE POSITION on floor, table or other secure flat
surface. Protect rug, floor or furniture by placing unit on a waterproof pad or
mat. Cord should be out-of-the-way and the humidifier in a stable position and
unlikely to be tipped over.
When used therapeutically, humidifier should be placed at least 4 feet from
bedside and out of the reach of children.
5 PLUG IN HUMIDIFIER. Plug power cord into 110-120 volts AC outlet. This
product has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other) as a safety
feature. The plug will fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does
not fit properly in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a
qualified electrician. Do not attempt to defeat this safety feature.
6 TURN SWITCH ON CORD TO “ ”ON POSITION.
7 DAILY MAINTENANCE. Turn switch to “ ”Off position. Always disconnect power
cord at electrical outlet before cleaning or filling. Empty any unused water from
base. Rinse and wipe clean.
IMPORTANT: To maintain proper operation of your humidifier, be sure to follow
Care and Cleaning Instructions.
SPECIAL NOTES
Ventilation
The humidifier should not be left unattended in small or closed rooms, as over-saturated air can
cause condensation stains on walls and furniture.
Use of Distilled Water
In certain areas, tap water is extremely hard, containing a higher-than-normal concentration of
various minerals. These minerals can be emitted into the air, possibly causing adverse reactions in
people with breathing difficulties. In such cases, use only distilled or demineralized water and clean
the humidifier every day. (See Care and Cleaning Instructions).
If you have breathing difficulties, consult your physician before using any humidification product.
In hard-water areas a white dust may form on furniture. This can easily be wiped away with a cloth.
To avoid the white dust, you may use distilled water.
Storage of Humidifier
When humidifier is not in use, clean thoroughly, following . Dry allCare and Cleaning Instructions
parts and store in a cool, dry location. Do not store with water in container.
Condition of Sale
As a condition of sale, the purchaser assumes responsibility for the proper care and use of this
appliance in accordance with our printed instructions. The purchaser or user must judge for himself
or herself when to use it and length of use.

CARE AND CLEANING
INSTRUCTIONS
Cleaning is recommended for proper operation of your Vicks Cool Mist Humidifier.
Tap water contains impurities or dissolved solids that will leave a residue,
commonly referred to as scale, upon the inner surfaces of the humidifier.
It is recommended that you clean your humidifier every week or more often
where water quality is poor. More frequent cleaning may be necessary if you
see a heavy build-up of scale.
Weekly Maintenance
1 Removing Scale
a. Turn switch to the “Off” position. Disconnect the power cord from the
electrical outlet.
b. Remove top lid and place on a flat surface. BE CAREFULupside down
NOT TO BEND THE PICKUP TUBE.
c. Empty any remaining water.
d. Carefully loosen the pickup tube from the housing by holding the disk and
rotating the pickup tube in the direction of the arrow. “Off”(Figure 3)
e. Pour one 8 oz. cup of undiluted white vinegar into the base. Place pickup
tube in the vinegar. Let soak for 5 minutes.
CAUTION: DO NOT USE SOAP, DETERGENTS OR ABRASIVE CLEANERS.
f. Dampen a soft, clean cloth or sponge with the vinegar solution and wipe
the base, tube and walls around the pickup tube.
g. Rinse tube and base thoroughly in clean warm water until scale particles
are removed. You are now ready to disinfect the base.
2 Disinfecting the Base
a. Pour one teaspoon of household bleach and 1 gallon of water into base.
Place the pickup tube in the base and let sit for 20 minutes. Stir every few
minutes to insure that all surfaces are coated.
b. Empty base after 20 minutes and thoroughly rinse the base and tube with
water. Dry with a clean cloth or paper towel.
c. Wipe all exterior surfaces of the top lid with a soft dry cloth. BE CAREFUL NOT TO
SUBMERGE OR ALLOW WATER TO RUN INTO THE MOTOR COMPARTMENT.
d. Reattach the pickup tube to the top lid. Hold the disk and insert prongs into the holes on the
disk. On(Figure 4) Rotate the pickup tube in the direction of the “ ” arrow. (Figure 3)
e. Replace top lid on base. Humidifier is now ready for use.
End-Of-Season Maintenance
Follow Care and Cleaning Instructions at end-of-season or when the humidifier will not be used for
several days. Be sure to dry all parts and store in a cool, dry location.
☛DO NOT STORE UNIT WITH WATER INSIDE.
DynaFilter Maintenance
Remove and inspect the DynaFilter cartridge for dirt and dust accumulation. If you notice heavy
accumulation, the filter needs to be replaced. If filter is not changed regularly, dust and other
pollutants will clog the filter, impair air flow, reduce the efficiency of the humidifier and may
damage the motor.
