Your new CONAIRMAN® haircut kit has

everything you need to achieve professional

haircuts at home. It features a high-perfor-

mance metal series clipper with adjustable

taper control. The clipper is engineered with

Japanese stainless steel blades. Japanese

stainless steel is considered one of the best

brands and is renowned for its strength and

the ability to hold the sharpest edge. Also

included are 8 comb attachments for different

hair lengths, barber scissors, a storage pouch,

cleaning brush, lubricating oil and a blade

guard.

INSTRUCTIONS

FOR USE

CHARGING THE APPLIANCE

IMPORTANT

To charge the clipper, first ensure the clipper

is switched off, plug the USB cable into the

USB port on the USB adapter with output 5.0V

DC, 1000mA, then insert the Micro USB plug

into the bottom of the clipper. Plug the adapter

into wall outlet (at the voltage listed on the

label affixed to the adapter). Unplug adapter

when not in use.

This clipper is easy to use, but before first

use, you must charge the unit for 3 hours.

Maximum battery capacity will be reached

only after 3 charging/discharging cycles. A

full charge will provide approximately 2 hours

use. When the clipper is about to run out of

power, the charging indicator will flash and

you will have approximately 10 minutes of

use remaining. The charging LED indicator

light will flash when correctly connected to

the main power and will continuously flash

until the battery has fully charged. When the

battery is fully charged, the LED indicator light

will stop flashing but remain on.

WARNING: When charging, the unit can’t

operate. If the charging light suddenly starts to

flash rapidly, the appliance is faulty. If this

happens, stop charging, remove the adapter

from the outlet and contact our Customer Care

Center for further advice (see the Warranty

section of this information booklet).

OILING INSTRUCTIONS

IMPORTANT! It is highly recommended

before each use to oil the blades with the oil

provided. This ensures optimum cutting

performance. Unscrew the cap and cut off the

very end of the plastic tube with a pair of

scissors to release the oil.

To oil the blades, ensure that the unit is

switched on. Gently squeeze the oil tube and

apply 2 drops of oil to the blades (see FIGS. 1,

2, and 3). Leave the unit on for a few seconds

to allow the oil to thoroughly spread the

length of the blades. Switch off the unit and

remove any excess oil by gently dabbing with

a cloth.

Be careful not to use too much oil and don’t

oil your clipper more than necessary, as this

could damage the motor. (Never attempt to oil

the motor bearing, as it is permanently

lubricated.)

PRESERVING THE BATTERY

In order to maintain the optimum capacity of

the rechargeable battery, the appliance has to

be fully discharged approximately every 6

months. Then recharge the device for 3 hours

to full capacity again.

THE CONAIR GUIDE TO CUTTING

HAIR AT HOME

Before you start:

1. Inspect your clipper. Make sure it’s free of

hair and dirt, properly oiled and running

smoothly.

2. Place a barber cape or a towel around the

neck of the person whose hair is to be cut.

3. Seat the person so that his or her head is

at your eye level. This gives you greater

visibility and control.

4. Comb hair until it’s tangle free. Then hold

clipper in a comfortable grip. Now you’re

ready to cut.

MEDIUM-TO-LONG CUT

To begin, cut only a small amount of hair until

you become used to the length each

attachment leaves the hair. Try the longest

attachment on the clipper ﬁrst. If you want a

shorter cut, you can then use shorter combs.

• Short attachment comb (number 0) cuts

hair to 1/32" (0.8mm).

• Short attachment comb (number 0.5) cuts

hair to 1/16" (1.5mm).

• Medium attachment comb (number 1) cuts

hair to 1/8" (3mm).

• Medium attachment comb (number 2) cuts

hair to 1/4" (6mm).

• Medium attachment comb (number 3) cuts

hair to 3/8" (9.5mm).

• Long attachment comb (number 4) cuts hair

to 1/2" (13mm).

• Long attachment comb (number 5) cuts hair

to 5/8" (16mm).

• Long attachment comb (number 6) cuts hair

to 3/4" (19mm).

Attach comb by

holding it teeth up,

then snapping onto

the bottom of the

clipper blade.

To remove comb

attachment, place

index finger and

thumb as illustrated;

then pull out and up.

NOTE: Never push or shove the clipper

through the hair to make it move more

quickly. Professional experience shows

that the clipper works most efficiently

when it cuts through the hair at its own

speed.

To begin cutting hair:

1. The hair should be combed

in its natural direction.

2. Using the longest comb

attachment, trim sides from

the bottom upward. Hold

clipper lightly against the hair with teeth of

the comb attachment pointing up ward yet flat

against the head.

Gradually lift the clipper

upward and outward

through the hair, trim-

ming just a little at a

time.

Repeat around sides and

back of head.

If you want hair to be

even shorter:

A) Apply more pressure

to the head with the

comb attachment that

is in place. This takes a

little practice, of course.

OR B) Switch to a shorter

comb attachment.

Remember, it’s better to

leave too much hair than

too little.

For longer hair on top, use

the barber comb and lift

hair on the top of the head,

cutting over the comb.

Or hold the hair between

the fingers and cut to desired length. Always

working from the front to the back of the

head, gradually cut the hair shorter by reduc-

ing the space between the comb or fingers

and the head. Comb often to check for uneven

strands and to get rid of trimmed hair.

OUTLINING

Outlining requires no

attachments. Comb hair into

the desired style. Position

the clipper between the

sideburns and the ear (see

illustration), making sure the

corner edge of the blade is

against the hairline. With the

outline of the hair as your

guide, slowly move the clip-

per over, around and behind

the ears. For the back of the

neck and the sideburns, hold the clipper in

the opposite direction and, holding it against

the skin at the length desired, move the clip-

per downward.

STOP. COMB. CHECK.

For best results, do as the professionals do:

Comb hair often and check clipping results as

you comb. This way you avoid uneven sides,

bangs, neckline, etc.

SHORT CUTS TO PERFECT

FLATTOPS, CREW CUTS, ETC.

Always cut from the back of the neck to

the crown, using the longest comb setting.

Hold the comb attachment flat against the

head and slowly move the clipper up through

the hair. Use the same technique for the

sides, cutting from the bottom

to the upper side of the head.

For the front to the crown, cut

the hair against the direction

in which it grows. Then even it

up with the sides.

For a flattop, use the

flat comb, not the comb

attachment. Cut hair on top

of the head over flat comb

(see illustration).

FADE OR TAPER

Fades and tapers can vary

according to ethnic and regional preferences.

Except among the most highly trained profes-

sionals, the two terms are often used inter-

changeably. The techniques to create them

are quite similar.

The Fade: A fade is a transition in hair length

from thin to full that appears around the sides

and back of the head. You can have a low, mid

or high fade, depending on your preference.

Start by choosing your fade line. This is the

point where the fade begins, where the hair

is shortest. Be conservative to start. Choosing

a #1 attachment comb will trim very close to

the skin, whereas using no attachment comb

will leave the skin bald. Therefore, we suggest

starting with a #3 or #4 for your first attempt.

You can always go shorter later, but you’ll have

to wait for weeks for hair to grow back if you

cut it too short at the start.

The Taper: A taper (or tape-up) is like a fade,

but it sits lower on the head, closer to the

ears and low on the nape of the neck (see

image A on right). It is usually done on the

temple and sideburn areas, proceeding low

above the ear, and around to the back of the

head, but it can continue around the perim-

eter of the head if so desired (see image B).

Choose longer guide combs for a taper than

you would for a fade—a #4 or #5 is a good

start.

If you are unsure, go with a #6 and use a

C-scoop or crescent-shape motion. The taper

is considered a more conservative look, for

men in the corporate workplace. It is layered

much like a fade, and the technique to create

it is much the same with minor differences.

Low, Mid or High Fade: Where you stop

fading is up to you. You can create a low,

mid or high fade. The low fade (see image

B), which is essentially the same as a taper

and the most conservative style, stops at

the temple, continues just above the ear

and proceeds to the back across the lower

occipital bone below the parietal ridge. It will

usually stay within an inch or 2 of the lower

neckline. A mid fade (see image C) can stop

at the temple or go a little higher. It proceeds

higher above the ear and aims for the parietal

ridge, approximately 2 to 3 inches above the

low hairline. A high fade (see image D) lands

above the temple and dips slightly as it pro-

ceeds to the back of the head, above the pari-

etal ridge. You can go even higher if you want

to create that high and tight U.S. Marine look.

These specifications are general guidelines.

You can create a fade or taper anywhere on

the head and use any degree of steepness

you desire. Cutting hair is an art form! The

key is to get the look you want.

Technique: Start at the bottom of the hairline

and use short, upward strokes, trimming as

evenly as possible across the back hairline

and around to each side, over the ears and

sideburns. The length of the stroke will deter-

mine how steep or gradual the fade will be,

depending on the look you want. Just keep

your strokes proportional.

Start with quarter-inch to half-inch strokes,

using a gentle scrubbing motion, working

square to the head surface at this point.

Then, switch to the next-longer guide comb

and trim around the hairline again, blending

in with your first trim layer. To achieve bet-

ter blending with the first layer, keep using a

C-scoop motion with the clipper, gently bend-

ing the wrist to pull the clipper away from the

head as you move upward.

CARE OF YOUR CLIPPER

IF YOU DETERMINE THAT BLADE

ALIGNMENT IS INCORRECT:

CONAIRMAN® hair clippers are carefully

inspected to ensure that the blades are in

perfect alignment. Of course, you will need to

realign the blades after removal for cleaning

or replacement, or if they should be knocked

out of alignment. How can you tell if blades

need realigning? Simply match them up, point

for point, to conform with FIG. 1 below:

To prevent the clipper from contacting the

skin or cutting too closely, make certain that

the end top blade teeth are 1/32" to 1/16"

back from bottom blade.

To Align Blades:

1. Unplug clipper and slightly

loosen screws (see FIG. 2).

2. Position the extreme left-

hand tooth of the top blade so

that it either covers or appears

on the left of the first small

tooth on the bottom blade.

3. Make sure that the big tooth on the bottom

blade touches the extreme right-hand tooth

of the top blade.

Any other servicing should be performed by

an authorized service representative. This

appliance has no user-serviceable parts.

This appliance is for household use.

ADJUSTABLE TAPER LEVER

Just like on professional clippers, the

CONAIRMAN® taper lever is positioned at your

thumb. You can hold the clipper in your hand

and adjust the lever at the same time...while

you’re clipping.

This taper lever eliminates the need in some

situations for a comb attachment because it

lets you gradually adjust the closeness of the

cut. For the closest cut and the shortest hair,

push taper lever up as far as it will go, to level

#1. For a longer cut, slowly push lever down. If

you push to the lowest position, level #5, it will

leave hair about the same length as the short

comb attachment.

Because a different cutting edge is used in

each setting, using the taper lever lengthens

the life of your blades.

Packed-in hair can slow down any clipper. To

remove hair without removing the blades, do

what the professionals do: Keeping the clipper

on, quickly push the taper lever back and forth

from close cut to longer cut a few times.

If you do this after every clipping, especially

with heavy hair cutting, the blades should

remain free of cut hair.

NOTE: Never pull on the clipper cord. Never

twist or wrap the cord around the clipper. Lay

it flat with the cord coiled up when not in use.

STORAGE: When not in use, your clipper

should be disconnected, allowed to cool and

stored in a safe, dry location, out of reach of

children.

unless instructed by the manufacturer.

INSTRUCCIONES DE CARGA

IMPORTANTE

Para cargar el aparato, primero compruebe

que está apagado, enchufe el cable USB en el

enchufe USB del adaptador USB con salida de

5 V DC, 1000 mA, y luego inserte el enchufe

micro USB en la parte inferior del aparato.

Enchufe el adaptador (compruebe el voltaje

indicado en la etiqueta del adaptador antes de

enchufarlo). Desenchufe el adaptador cuando

no esté en uso.

IMPORTANTE: El aparato debe cargarse por 3

horas antes del primer uso. La batería

recargable alcanzará su capacidad

máxima después de 3 ciclos de carga/

descarga. Una carga completa proporcionará

aprox. 2 horas de uso sin cable. Si el

indicador de carga empieza a parpadear

durante el uso, esto significa que le queda

solamente 10 minutos de uso inalámbrico.

Durante la carga, la luz de carga DEL roja

parpadeará, lo que indica que el aparato está

LUBRICACIÓN

¡IMPORTANTE! Se recomienda lubricar las

cuchillas antes de cada uso, usando el aceite

provisto; esto asegurará un rendimiento

óptimo. Desenrosque la tapa del tubo de

aceite lubricante y corte la punta del aplicador

de plástico con tijeras.

Encienda el aparato. Presione suavemente el

tubo y vierta 2 gotas del aceite en las

cuchillas (véase las ilustraciones 1, 2 y 3).

Deje el aparato encendido por unos segundos

para que el aceite se esparza a lo largo de las

cuchillas. Luego, apague el aparato y seque

suavemente el exceso de aceite con un paño.

No use demasiado aceite y no lubrique el

aparato más de lo necesario; esto podría

dañar el motor. Tampoco intente lubricar las

piezas del motor, las cuales están lubricadas

de por vida.

EL CABELLO EN CASA

Antes de empezar:

1.. Examine el aparato. Cerciórese de que es

limpio, que funcione correctamente y que las

cuchillas estén lubricadas.

2.. Coloque la capa de corte (o una toall

alrededor del cuello de la persona a quien le

va a cortar el cabello.

3.. Siente a la persona de manera que

cabeza esté al nivel de sus ojos, para mayor

visibilidad y control.

4.. Desenrede el cabello. Sostenga

cortadora cómodamente en su mano. Ya está

listo/a para empezar.

CORTES MEDIANOS A LARGOS

Empiece cortando poco cabello, hasta

acostumbrase a cada guía. Use la guía más

larga para empezar, y luego acorte el cabello

con guías más cortas si desea.

• Guía n.° 0 – Corta el cabello a 1/32 in (0.8 mm).

• Guía n.° 0.5 – Corta el cabello a 1/16 in

(1.5 mm).

• Guía n.° 1 – Corta el cabello a 1/8 in (3 mm)•

• Guía n.° 2 – Corta el cabello a 3/4 in (6 mm)•

• Guía n.° 3 – Corta el cabello a 3/8 in (9.5 mm).

Peine con frecuencia para comprobar que

recortes.

CONTORNEO

El contorneo (definición

de contornos) no requiere

accesorios. Primero, peine el

cabello como desee. Coloque

la cortadora entre la patilla

y la oreja (véase la figura),

posicionando la esquina

de la cuchilla contra el

nacimiento del pelo. Mueva

la cortadora lentamente

alrededor y atrás de las

orejas, siguiendo el contorno

del cabello. Para cortar el

cabello en la nuca y las sienes, sostenga la

cortadora al revés, colóquela contra la piel al

nivel deseado y deslícela hacia abajo.

DETÉNGASE. PEINE. CHEQUEE.

Para obtener resultados óptimos, siga el

ejemplo de los profesionales: peine el cabello

con frecuencia para chequear los resultados;

esto evitará los cortes disparejos en los

costados, los flequillos y la nuca.

PERFECTOS CORTES “TAPA

PLANA”, CORTES MILITARES, ETC.

Siempre corte el cabello desde la nuca hasta

la coronilla, usando la guía más larga.

Sostenga la guía plana contra la cabeza y

deslice la cortadora lentamente hacia arriba.

Use la misma técnica en los

costados, cortando el cabello

desde abajo hasta arriba.

Desde la frente hasta la coronilla, corte el

cabello en dirección contraria al crecimiento

del pelo. Luego, empareje los lados.

Para obtener una “tapa

plana”/tabla/mesa, no use

una guía sino un peine

plano, y corte el cabello

por encima del peine

(véase la ilustración).

CORTES/DEGRADADOS “FADE” O

“TAPER”

Los cortes/degradados “Fade” y “Taper”,

también llamados desvanecidos, pueden

variar según las preferencias étnicas y

regionales. Salvo entre los profesionales más

capacitados, los dos términos suelen usarse

indistintamente. Las técnicas usadas para

crearlos son bastante similares.

El “Fade”: Un “Fade” es un corte con una

transición en la longitud del cabello de corto

(menos volumen) a largo (más volumen)

en los costados y en la parte posterior de

la cabeza. Puede ser bajo, medio o alto,

dependiendo de su preferencia. Empiece

por elegir la línea de demarcación, es

decir, el punto donde empezar el “Fade”

(desvanecido), donde el cabello es más corto.

Sea conservador para empezar. La guía n.°

1 cortará el cabello muy cerca de la piel,

mientras no usar guía rapará el cabello. Por lo

tanto, sugerimos comenzar con la guía n.° 3

o n.° 4 para su primer intento. Siempre puede

cortar el cabello más corto, pero tendrá que

esperar semanas para que el cabello vuelva a

crecer si lo corta demasiado corto.

El “Taper”: Un “Taper” (también llamado

“Tape-up”) es como un “Fade” pero el corte

empieza más abajo en la cabeza, más cerca

de las orejas y más abajo en la nuca (Fig.

A). Por lo general, se realiza en las áreas de

las sienes y de la patillas, procediendo por

debajo de la oreja y alrededor de la parte

posterior de la cabeza, pero puede continuar

alrededor del perímetro de la cabeza si así

se desea (Fig. B). Para realizar un “Taper”,

elija una guía más larga que para realizar un

“Fade”, tal como la guía n.° 4 o n.°5.

Si está inseguro, use la guía n.° 6 y corte

con un movimiento en “C” o de medialuna.

El “Taper” es considerado un look más

conservador, para los hombres que trabajan

el mundo empresarial. Tiene capas/grados

como un “Fade”, y la técnica usada para

crearlo es muy similar, con pequeñas

diferencias.

“Fade” bajo, medio o alto: Donde deje de

desvanecer el cabello depende de usted.

Puede crear un “Fade” bajo, medio o alto.

El “Fade” bajo (Fig. B) es esencialmente lo

mismo que un “Taper” y es un estilo más

conservador. Se detiene en las sienes,

continúa justo por encima de las orejas y

procede hacia la parte posterior sobre el

hueso occipital inferior, por debajo de la

región parietal. Por lo general, se mantiene

dentro de 1 a 2 in (2.5 a 5 cm) de la línea de

nacimiento del cabello en la nuca. Un “Fade”

medio (Fig. C) puede parar en las sienes o

subir un poco más. Procede más arriba de

la oreja y hacia la región parietal, aprox. 2 a

3 in (5 a 7.5 cm) por encima de la línea de

nacimiento el pelo.

Un “Fade” alto (Fig. D) comienza arriba de

la sienes y baja ligeramente a medida que

avanza hacia la parte posterior de la cabeza,

arriba de la región parietal. Puedes ir aún

más alto si quiere crear el estilo de los

Marines de los EE.UU. Estas instrucciones son

pautas generales. Puede crear un “Fade” o

un “Taper” en cualquier zona de la cabeza,

usando cualquier grado de inclinación. ¡Cortar

el cabello es una forma de arte! La clave es

conseguir la apariencia que quiere.

Técnica: Comience en la línea de nacimiento

del cabello inferior, usando movimientos

ascendentes cortos para recortar lo más

uniformemente en la línea de nacimiento del

cabello trasera y alrededor de cada costado,

por encima de las orejas y de las patillas. La

longitud del movimiento que usa para cortar

determinará cuán pronunciado o gradual será

el desvanecido/degradado, dependiendo de

la apariencia que desee. Solo mantenga sus

movimientos proporcionales.

Empiece con movimientos suaves de ¼ a ½

in (0.5 a 1.5 cm), trabajando en la superficie

de la cabeza en este punto. Luego, cambie

a la siguiente guía más larga y recorte

alrededor de la línea de nacimiento del

cabello nuevamente, creando un fundido

con la primera capa. Para crear un fundido

con la primera capa, siga usando la técnica

de movimiento en “C” con la cortadora,

doblando suavemente la muñeca para alejar

la cortadora de la cabeza a medida que se

mueve hacia arriba.

CORTADORA DE CABELLO

ALINEACIÓN DE LAS CUCHILLAS:

Las cortadoras CONAIRMAN® son revisadas

con cuidado para comprobar que las cuchillas

están perfectamente alineadas. Sin embargo,

usted necesitará alinearlas nuevamente

después de haberlas extraído para limpiarlas

o reemplazarlas, o si se desalinean a

consecuencia de un golpe. Para determinar

si las cuchillas necesitan ser alineadas de

nuevo, simplemente hágalas coincidir como

se indica a continuación (Fig.1).

Para evitar que la cortadora corte el cabello

demasiado corto o que las cuchillas tengan

contacto con la piel, compruebe que la parte

superior de la cuchilla grande esté 1/32

a 1/16 in (1 a 1.5 mm) por encima de la

cuchilla pequeña.

Para alinear las cuchillas:

1. Desenchufe el aparato

y afloje ligeramente los

tornillos (Fig. 2).

2. Posicione el diente más

a la izquierda de la cuchilla

grande de tal manera que

cubra o esté a la izquierda del primer diente

pequeño de la cuchilla pequeñ

3. Compruebe que el diente grande más a la

derecha de la cuchilla pequeña toca el diente

más a la derecha de la cuchilla grande.

Cualquier otro servicio debe ser realizado

por un técnico de servicio autorizado. Este

aparato no contiene ninguna pieza que pueda

ser reparada/reemplazada por el usuario.

PALANCA DE AJUSTE DE

LONGITUD DE CORTE

Al igual que las cortadoras profesionales,

la cortadora CONAIRMAN® cuenta con una

palanca de ajuste de longitud de corte,

situada a la altura del pulgar, que permite

ajustar la longitud de corte a medida que

corta el cabello.

La palanca de ajuste de longitud de corte

permite cortar el cabello más corto o más

largo, sin tener que instalar una guía. Para

conseguir el corte más apurado y el cabello

más corto, deslice la palanca hacia arriba,

hasta la posición n.°1. Para conseguir un

corte más largo, empuje suavemente la

palanca hacia abajo. El ajuste más bajo (n.°

5) dejará el cabello tan corto como la guía

más corta.

Usar la palanca de ajuste de longitud de

corte prolonga la vida de las cuchillas, puesto

que estas nunca usan el mismo ángulo para

cortar.

Su cortadora puede perder velocidad si hay

recortes de pelo trabados en las cuchillas.

Para quitar el pelo de las cuchillas sin

tener que sacarlas, siga el ejemplo de los

profesionales: Con el aparato encendido,

mueva la palanca de ajuste de longitud de

corte desde arriba hasta abajo varias veces.

Hacer esto después de cada uso,

especialmente cuando se corta mucho

cabello, mantendrá las cuchillas en condición

óptima.

NOTA: Nunca jale el cable. Nunca retuerza ni

enrolle el cable alrededor del aparato. Enrolle

el cable sin apretar al lado del aparato.

ALMACENAMIENTO

Después del uso, desenchufe el aparato,

permita que se enfríe y guárdelo en un lugar

seco y seguro, fuera del alcance de los niños.
