OPERATING

INSTRUCTIONS

This appliance is intended for household use. Use

on Alternating Current (120V AC 60Hz) only. This

appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider

than the other). As a safety feature, this plug will

fit in the outlet only one way. If the plug does not

fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still

does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not

attempt to defeat this safety feature.

Your new Conair® Clipper and Trimmer Kit has

everything you need to achieve professional

haircuts, beard trimming and detailing at home.

Its powerful new torque motor clipper, with steel

blades for long-lasting cutting precision, features

a new 5-position adjustamatic taper control.

Whatever hair length you set the button for, the

clipper will automatically cut all hair in that section

at the desired length. Also included are 9 attach-

ment combs for different hair lengths (including

left and right ear taper combs), barber scissors, a

styling comb with angled teeth, a full-length barber

cape and a soft, foldable pouch for easy storage.

It also comes with lubricating oil, a cleaning brush

and a blade guard for easy maintenance and pro-

tection of the clipper blades.

In addition, your kit has a full-size detailing trimmer

to trim facial and neck hair precisely.

GUIDE TO CUTTING HAIR AT HOME

Before you start:

1. Inspect your clipper. Make sure it’s free of hair

and dirt, properly oiled, and running smoothly.

2. Place cape around the neck of the person getting

a haircut.

3. Seat the person so that his or her head is at

your eye level. This gives you greater visibility and

control.

4. First, comb hair until it’s tangle free. Then hold

clipper in a comfortable grip. Now you’re ready

to cut.

MEDIUM TO LONG CUT

To begin with, cut only a small amount

of hair until you become used to the length each

attachment leaves the hair. Try the longest attach-

ment comb and put the taper control in the high-

est setting. If you want a shorter cut, you can then

use shorter combs.

• Short attachment comb (#1) cuts hair to 1/8".

• Medium-Short attachment comb (#2) cuts hair to 1/4".

• Medium-Long attachment comb (#3) cuts hair to 3/8".

• Long attachment comb (#4) cuts hair to 1/2".

• Long attachment comb (#5) cuts hair to 5/8".

• Long attachment comb (#6) cuts hair to 3/4".

• Long attachment comb (#7) cuts hair to 7/8".

• Left ear attachment comb lightly tapers over left ear.

• Right ear attachment comb lightly tapers over right ear.

These combs make this part of the haircut easier.

Attach combs by holding

them teeth up, then snapping

them onto the bottom of the

clipper blade.

To remove comb attach-

ments, place index finger

and thumb as illustrated;

then pull out and up.

NOTE: Never push or shove the clipper through

the hair to make it move more quickly.

Professional experience shows that the clipper

works most efficiently when it cuts through the

hair at its own speed.

To begin cutting hair:

1. The hair should be combed in its natural

direction.

2. Using the largest attachment comb, trim sides

from the bottom upward. Hold clip per lightly

against the hair with teeth of the attachment comb

pointing up ward, yet flat

against the head.

Gradually lift the clip per

upward and outward through

the hair, trimming just a little

at a time. Repeat around sides

and back of head.

If you want hair to be even

shorter:

A) Apply more pressure to

the head with the attach-

ment comb that is in place.

This takes a little practice, of

course.

B) Just switch to a shorter

attachment comb.

Remember, it’s better to leave

too much hair than too little.

For longer hair on top, use the

styling comb and lift hair on

the top of the head, cutting

over the comb, or hold the hair

between the fingers and cut to

desired length. Always working

from the front to the back of the

head, gradually cut the hair

shorter by reducing the space

between the comb or fingers and the head. Comb

often to check for uneven strands, and to get rid of

trimmed hair.

*Equipped with a turbo switch, this unit is designed

to provide extra power making it easier to cut

thicker, coarser hair.

OUTLINING

Outlining requires no attach-

ments. Comb hair into the

desired style. Position the clipper

between the sideburns and the

ear, making sure the corner edge

of the blade is against the hair-

line. With the outline of the hair

as your guide, slowly move the

clipper over, around and behind

the ears. For the back of the neck

and the sideburns, hold the clip-

per upside down (see across) and,

holding it against the skin at the

length desired, move the clipper downward.

STOP. COMB. CHECK.

For best results, do as the professionals do: Comb hair

often, and check clipping results as you comb. This

way you avoid uneven sides, bangs, neckline, etc.

FOR ULTRA-CLOSE FADE STYLES:

A fade cut is a haircut that starts with very short hair

(almost bald) on the sides of the head, but lengthens

as it nears the top.

1. Start with clean, dry hair. If hair is fairly long, use

a long comb attachment (ideally #4) to remove the

bulk of your hair before starting the fade cut.

2. Using the long comb attachment, trim hair, cutting

against the growth of your hair (from base of neck

up toward top of head). At first, until you become

familiar with the different attachments, begin with a

longer one. You can always go back and make your

hair a little shorter. Brush or comb away cuttings as

you go. Do not force the blades through the hair. Let

the trimmer do the work. Using the #1 comb attach-

ment, you can cut hair as short as 1/8".

3. Gradually trim hair from entire head, rotating

trimmer when necessary. Keep cutting against the

natural growth of your hair.

4. Establish the fade line. Remove comb attach-

ments. With the taper control in position #1, start by

blending the hair at the fade line by trimming up and

out, repeating as you rotate around the head. Cut

hair shorter on the sides and base of the head than

on the top of the head.

5. With the taper control in the #5 position, the blade

is as close as it can be to the head. Now repeat the

above process, virtually removing all hair. Begin at

the base of the scalp and blend toward the fade line.

The goal is to blend the hair so there is no real line,

just a perfect fade from bald on the sides to very

short hair on the top. Continue blending – remember

to comb or brush hair against the natural growth

to remove cuttings as you go until you achieve the

desired look.

FOR THE BALD CUT

Follow the instructions for the fade cut, cutting

hair progressively shorter with each pass of

the clipper. For a bald effect, remove all comb

attachments and move the taper control to the #5

position. To receive maximum closeness, overlap

strokes in a crisscross pattern. To achieve a

smooth, bald look, we recommend you finish by

using a razor with lather to shave entire head.

SHORTCUTS TO PERFECT

FLATTOPS, CREW CUTS, ETC.

Always cut from the back of the neck to the crown,

using the longest comb setting. Hold the comb

attachment flat against the head and slowly move

the clipper up through the hair. Use the same tech-

nique for the sides, cutting from the bottom to the

upper side of the head.

For the front to the crown, cut the hair against the

direction in which it grows, then even it up with

the sides.

For a flattop, use the flat comb, not the attachment

comb. Just cut hair on top of the head over flat

comb (see below).

To taper hair down to the neckline, use

attachment comb #1. Comb hair and check for

uneven spots. Outline sideburns and neck areas

(see “Outlining”).

USER MAINTENANCE

CARE OF YOUR CLIPPERS

DETACHABLE BLADE SET

This clipper comes with a

detachable blade set.

To remove the blades follow

these steps:

1. Hold the front part of the

clipper with your thumb

pressing on the blade and

place another hand against

the blade (See Fig. 1).

2. When pressing the blade

forward, the blade is detached

(See Fig. 2).

TO REPLACE BLADE:

1. Set the Taper Control Button

to lowest position “1”

(See Fig. 3.)

2. Place the blade onto the

clipper body by inserting the

“Blade Tongue” down below

the “Lock Tap”(See Fig. 4).

3. Snap the blade down into following position.

The blade is now fixed onto the clipper body

(See Fig. 5).

Use these instructions to switch between the

clipper and beard trimmer blades and back.

SPECIAL OIL

To maintain the blades

of your Conair clipper,

oil them after every

three or four haircuts.

Gently place a few drops of oil on the teeth of the

blades, using the special Conair

oil included with

your set. Turn the clipper on for a minute, then turn

off. This light, natural oil was formulated specifi-

cally for the Conair high speed clipper. Be cause

it is the right oil to use, it will not slow down the

blades. Never use any other product. There is no

substitute for Conair oil.

Keep oil out of reach of children.

TURBO FEATURE

This product is equipped with a turbo boost button.

When activated, this will provide more cutting power.

This is especially useful for cutting through thicker hair.

To activate the turbo feature:

1. Turn the Power switch to the “on” position.

2. Press the Turbo button.

3. Continue to press the Turbo button for as long as

you need the extra power.

4. Release the Turbo button to return to normal

power.

ADJUSTABLE 5-POSITION

TAPER CONTROL

Just like levers on professional clippers, the Conair

taper control is positioned at the back of the unit,

which functions for both the clipper and trimmer

blade so you can hold the clipper in your hand and

adjust the lever at the same time...while you’re

clipping/trimming. This taper control eliminates the

need in some situations for an attachment comb,

because it lets you gradually adjust the closeness

of the cut. For the closest cut and the shortest hair,

push taper control up as far as it will go to level

#1. To increase cutting length,

slowly push control down. If

you push to the lowest posi-

tion, level #5 or #4, it will leave

hair about the same length as

the short attachment comb.

Because a different cutting edge is used in each

setting, the taper lever lengthens the life of your

blades. Packed-in hair can slow down any clipper.

To remove it without removing the blades, take your

cleaning brush and brush the hair from the blades.

If you do this after every clipping, especially with

heavy hair cutting, the blades should remain free

of cut hair. If clipper stops cutting and this action

doesn’t help, try loosening the blades to remove the

hair.

Any other servicing should be performed by an

authorized service representative. The appliance has

no user serviceable parts. The product is for house-

hold use only. (See Important Safety Instructions).

If clipper stops cutting, check to see if there is a

clump of hair lodged between the blades. If that is

the problem, unplug the clipper and then loosen the

blades to remove the hair.

If the clipper stops cutting, but does not stop run-

ning, you will need to check the blades. For new

blades, send check or money order for $6.50

STORAGE

When not in use, your clipper should be discon-

nected, allowed to cool and stored in a safe, dry

location, out of reach of children.

Any other servicing should be performed by an

authorized service representative. This appliance

has no user-serviceable parts. The product is for

household use only.

NOTE: Never pull on the clipper cord. Never

twist or wrap the cord around the clipper. To

store your clipper, lay it flat with the cord coiled

up, then place in case.

TO OPERATE TRIMMER

1. Remove the battery cover

at the back of the unit by pull-

ing straight down. (Fig. 1)

2. Being careful not to bend

the clips, insert the negative

end of the battery first, so it

will slip easily into position.

3. Return the battery cover to

its original position by pushing

it into place.

4. To use your trimmer, push ON/OFF switch

upward to ON position.

5. After you finish using your trimmer, push down

on the ON/OFF switch to turn the trimmer off.

6. Always purchase the correct size and grade of

battery most suitable for the intended use.

7. Replace the battery once it is no longer functional.

8. Clean the battery contacts and also those of the

device prior to battery installation.

9. Ensure the battery is installed correctly with

regard to polarity (+ and -).

10. Remove battery from equipment that is not to

be used for an extended period of time.

11. Remove used battery promptly.

12. Store unused batteries in their original

packaging, away from metal objects that could

short-circuit them. Never short-circuit batteries.

13. Never dispose of batteries in fire, except under

conditions of controlled incineration. Failure to

observe this precaution may result in an explosion.

Never attempt to recharge primary batteries as this

may cause leakage, fire, or explosion.

*Trimmer requires 1 AA battery (not included).

We recommend using alkaline batteries in your

trimmer because they last longer. If you are not

going to use your trimmer for a long period of time,

or if the battery is dead, remove the battery from

the unit. This will increase the life of your trimmer.

TAKING CARE OF YOUR TRIMMER

BLADE CARE

Because the trimmer blades are precision made for

a very special use, they should always be handled

with care. Each time you finish using the trimmer,

take a cleaning brush and brush away any loose

hair that has collected in the blades.

To promote the long life of the appliance, use

your trimmer only for the purpose intended by the

manufacturer.

TO CLEAN YOUR TRIMMER

Make sure trimmer is off.

1. To remove the trimmer head for

cleaning, turn the head counter-clock-

wise until the “I” mark aligns with the

arrow mark, then lift the head gently

(Fig. 1).

2. Only rinse the head under water

(Fig. 2). For proper functioning of the

unit, the handle cannot touch or be

immersed in water.

3. After cleaning, make sure to shake

dry the head before replacing it on

the body.

4. To reassemble the head onto the

body, align the “I” mark on the head

with the arrow mark on the body

and then turn clockwise until the “I”

mark aligns with the circle mark on

the body (Fig. 3).

5. Add a few drops of oil provided to the

blades and run unit for 30 seconds for proper

lubrication.

EL CABELLO EN CASA

Antes de empezar:

1.. Revise el aparato. Cerciórese que está limpi

que funciona correctamente y que las cuchillas

están lubricadas.

2.. Coloque una toalla o una capa de cor

alrededor del cuello de la persona a quien le va a

cortar el cabello.

3.3. Siente a la persona de manera que su cabe

esté al nivel de sus ojos, para mayor visibilidad y

control.

4.. Desenrede el cabello. Sostenga la cortado

cómodamente en su mano. Ya está listo/a para

empezar.

CORTES MEDIANOS A LARGOS

Empiece cortando poco cabello, hasta

acostumbrase a cada guía. Utilice la guía más

larga para empezar, poniendo el botón o la palanca

de ajuste de longitud de corte en la posición más

larga, y luego acorte el cabello con guías más

cortas si desea.

• Guía 1 – Corta el cabello a 1/8" (3 mm).

• Guía2 – Corta el cabello a 1/4" (6 mm).

• Guía3 – Corta el cabello a 3/8" (9.5 mm)

• Guía4 – Corta el cabello a 1/2" (22 mm)

• Guía5 – Corta el cabello a 5/8" (22 mm)

• Guía6 – Corta el cabello a 3/4" (22 mm)

• Guía7 – Corta el cabello a 7/8" (22 mm)

Para instalar la guía,

sosténgala cabeza arriba y

engánchela en la parte

inferior de la cuchilla.

Para quitar la guía, jale la

pata trasera hacia arriba,

según se indica.

NOTA: nunca empuje la cortadora para que

corte más rápidamente. La experiencia

profesional demuestra que funciona mejor

cuando corta a su propia velocidad.

Para empezar el corte:

1. Peine el cabello en dirección

de su crecimiento natural.

2. Empiece el recorte en un lado

de la cabeza, usando la guía

más larga, y cortando desde

abajo hasta arriba. Sostenga la

cortadora ligeramente contra el

cabello, con los dientes de la

guía apuntando hacia arriba y

planos contra la cabeza.

Pase la cortadora en el cabello

gradualmente hacia arriba y

hacia fuera, cortando poco

cabello a la vez. Haga lo mismo en el otro lado y

atrás de la cabeza.

Si quiere un corte de cabello aún más corto:

A)) Aplique más presión. (esto necesita un poco

práctica).

B)) Utilice una guía más cort

Recuerde que es mejor dejar

el cabello demasiado largo que

demasiado corto. Si quiere dejar

el cabello más largo encima de

la cabeza, utilice el peine de

corte o sus dedos para alzar

el cabello y córtelo a lo largo

deseado. Trabaje siempre

desde adelante hacia atrás de la

cabeza y corte el cabello poco

a poco, reduciendo el espacio

entre sus dedos (o el peine) y

la cabeza. Peine con frecuencia

para cerciorarse que no hay mechones disparejos

y eliminar los recortes.

* Su cortadora está equipada con un botón turb

que proporciona un más potencia, lo que permite

cortar el cabello grueso y espeso más fácilmente.

CONTORNEO

El contorneo no requiere

accesorios. Primero, peine el

cabello como desea. Coloque

la cortadora entre la patilla

y la oreja, posicionando la

esquina de la cuchilla contra el

nacimiento del pelo. Mueva la

cortadora lentamente alrededor

y atrás de las orejas, siguiendo

el contorno del cabello. Para

cortar el cabello en la nuca y las

sienes, sostenga la cortadora al

revés (véase el dibujo a continuación), colóquela

contra la piel al nivel deseado y deslícela hacia

abajo.

DETÉNGASE. PEINE. VERIFIQUE.

Para lograr resultados óptimos, siga el ejemplo de

los profesionales: peine el cabello con frecuencia

para verificar los resultados. Esto evitará tener

lados, flequillos o líneas de nuca disparejos.

CORTES RAPADOS

A LOS COSTADOS

El corte rapado a los costados es un corte muy

corto (casi rapado) en los lados de la cabeza, que

se vuelve más largo hacia la coronilla.

1.. El cabello debe de estar limpio y seco. Si es

demasiado largo, acórtelo primero usando una guía

larga como la no. 4.

2. Corte el cabello en dirección contraria 2.

crecimiento del pelo, desde la nuca hasta la coronilla.

Le recomendamos que utilice la guía más larga para

empezar. Siempre podrá volver a acortar el cabello.

Peine el cabello a medida que lo corta. No empuje las

cuchillas en el cabello; deje el aparato funcionar a su

velocidad. La guía No. 1 le permitirá cortar el cabello

tan corto como 1/8" pulgada (3 mm).

3.. Corte el cabello uniformemente, cambiando

posición de la cortadora cuando sea necesario.

Siempre corte en dirección contraria al crecimiento

del pelo.

4.. Determine donde ubicar la línea

demarcación, es decir en que nivel de la cabeza

empezar a dejar el cabello más largo. Retire la

guía. Ponga el botón de ajuste de longitud de corte

en la posición no.1 y empiece por desvanecer

la línea de demarcación, moviendo la cortadora

hacia arriba y fuera, todo alrededor de la cabeza.

Deje el cabello más corto en los lados y atrás de

la cabeza.

5.. Ahora, ponga el botón de ajuste de longit

de corte en la posición 5 (la posición que deja el

cabello más corto). Repita el corte, rapando el

cabello. Empiece en la base de la nuca y rape el

cabello hasta la línea de demarcación. El propósito

de esta etapa es emparejar el cabello hasta que no

se note la línea de demarcación. El cabello debería

ser rapado en los lados y atrás de la cabeza, y

muy corto encima de la cabeza. Siga emparejando

el cabello, peinándolo en dirección contraria al

crecimiento del pelo a medida que lo corta, hasta

que consiga el estilo deseado.

CORTES RAPADOS

Siga las instrucciones para los cortes rapados a los

costados, acortando el cabello con cada pasada.

Para conseguir un efecto rapado en toda la cabeza,

retire la guía y ponga el botón de ajuste de longitud

de corte en la posición no.5. Pase entonces

la cortadora en el cabello con movimientos

entrecruzados. Si desea que la cabeza quede

completamente suave, le recomendamos que la

afeite después con crema de afeitar.

PERFECTOS CORTES CON

CORONILLAS PLANAS,

CORTES MILITARES, ETC.

Siempre corte el cabello desde la nuca hasta la

coronilla, usando la guía más larga. Sostenga

la guía contra la cabeza y deslice la cortadora

lentamente hacia arriba. Utilice la misma técnica

para los lados, cortando desde abajo hasta arriba.

En la frente, corte el cabello en dirección contraria

al crecimiento del pelo, y luego empareje los lados.

Para conseguir una coronilla plana, no utilice guía

sino un peine plano, Corte el cabello por encima

del peine (véase el dibujo más arriba).

Para desvanecer la línea de nacimiento del pelo,

utilice la guía más corta. Peine el cabello para

averiguar que el corte está uniforme. Corte el

cabello en la nuca y en las patillas (ver la sección

“Contorneo”).

CUCHILLAS EXTRAÍBLES

Su cortadora está equipada con cuchillas

extraíbles. Para sacar las cuchillas:

1.. Sostenga el apara

firmemente, ponga su mano

libre atrás de las cuchillas

y empújelas con el pulgar

(Fig.1).

2.. Siga empujando has

desencajar las cuchillas

(Fig.2).

INSTALACIÓN:

1.. Asegúrese de que el bot

de ajuste de longitud de corte

esté en la posición más baja,

es decir la posición no.1 (Fig.3

2.. Instale el juego

cuchillas sobre el cabezal,

introduciendo la "lengüeta"

debajo del "pestillo" (Fig.4).

3.. Empuje hasta que ha

clic y quede firme en su lugar

(Fig.5).

Siga estas instrucciones cada vez que necesite

remover las cuchillas.

ACEITE ESPECIAL

Para mantener las

cuchillas de su

cortadora en condición

óptima, lubríquelas

cada tres o cuatro

cortes de cabello. Ponga unas cuantas gotas del

aceite lubricante provisto en los dientes de las

cuchillas. Encienda el aparato durante un minuto,

y luego apáguelo. El aceite lubricante provisto p2-ha

sido específicamente diseñado para las cortadoras

de alta velocidad de Conair, Por lo tanto, no

reducirá la velocidad de las cuchillas. Nunca utilice

otro producto. No hay ningún substituto al aceite

de Conair.

Mantenga el aceite fuera del alcance

de los niños.

FUNCIÓN TURBO

Su cortadora está equipada con un botón turbo. La

función turbo proporciona más poder de corte. Esto

es muy útil para cortar el cabello espeso.

Para activar la función turbo:

1.. Encienda el aparato ("ON"

necesite más fuerza.

4.. Suelte el botón turbo para regresar a la potenc

AJUSTE DE LONGITUD DE

CORTE CON 5 POSICIONES

Al igual que las cortadoras profesionales, su

cortadora está equipada con un botón de ajuste

de longitud de corte que permite ajustar el largo

del corte a medida que corta el cabello. El botón

está ubicado en la parte trasera del aparato. El

botón de ajuste de longitud de corte permite cortar

el cabello más corto o más largo, sin tener que

instalar una guía. Para obtener un corte más corto,

deslice el botón hacia arriba,

hasta la posición 1. Para

obtener un corte más largo,

deslice el botón hacia abajo.

Los ajustes más bajos (4 y 5)

dejarán el cabello tan corto

como la guía más corta.

Usar el ajuste de longitud de corte prolonga la

vida útil de las cuchillas, puesto que éstas nunca

utilizan el mismo ángulo para cortar. Su cortadora

puede perder velocidad si recortes de cabello están

trabados en las cuchillas. Para limpiar las cuchillas

sin tener que removerlas, utilice el cepillo de

limpieza provisto. Hacer esto después de cada uso,

especialmente cuando se corta mucho cabello,

mantendrá las cuchillas en condición óptima.

Si la cortadora deja de funcionar y que esto no

soluciona el problema, afloje las cuchillas para

limpiarlas.

Cualquier otro servicio debe ser realizado por un

técnico autorizado. Este aparato no contiene piezas

que puedan ser reparadas por el usuario. Para uso

doméstico solamente. (Véase la sección "Medidas

de seguridad importantes").

Si la cortadora deja de cortar, averigüe si recortes

de cabello están trabados en las cuchillas. Si esto

es el problema, desenchufe la cortadora y afloje

las cuchillas para limpiarlas.

Si la cortadora deja de cortar, pero sigue

funcionando, revise las cuchillas. Cámbielas si

están embotadas. Puede pedir nuevas cuchillas

por correo, mandando un cheque o un giro postal

de US$6.50 (incluye gastos de envío y manejo) a

la dirección más abajo.
