Congratulations on your purchase of the Electro-Harmonix Bass Preacher.

The Bass Preacher is a compact compressor/sustainer effect with variable

parameters allowing for extreme or subtle adjustments of the dynamic

qualities o your bass playing. Whether you want transparent level out f to ly

the notes of your playing, or create a more extreme, squashed sounding

effect, the Bass Preacher can be dial in to the perfect compression sound. ed

Although designed with bass guitar in mind, the Bass Preacher also works

great on guitar for those seeking a more subtle and transparent effect than

what other stompbox compressors offer.

The input sensitivity ranges from - dBu to +2 dBu, making it a perfect fit 10

for both passive and active basses of varying output levels. The Bass

Preacher has a maximum gain reduction of 21 dB, with enough make-up

gain to return your signal to full volume at maximum sustain (compression).

The Attack switch changes the response time to give you additional control

over the sound of the compressor. The Bass Preacher features true bypass

circuitry.

-USING THE BASS PREACHER-

Use the footswitch to turn on the effect. A red status LED illuminates to

indicate that the effect is engaged Adjust the knob for th. SUSTAIN e

desired amount of compression. Adjust the knob to cut, match, or VOL

boost the outgoing signal in relation to the incoming signal. Select FAST,

MED, or SLOW with the toggle switch to change the timing of the ATTACK

onset of compression. With ATTACK in mode, the compression FAST

engages immediately upon playing a note, producing a more squashed

sound. In mode the compression engages more slowly, allowing SLOW

more initial transients to come through. The mode is a compromise MED

between the two attack envelopes.

-CONTROLS & I/O Jacks -

Footswitch & Status LED When the effect is engaged this red LED will –

illuminate. When power is applied, the Status LED glows brightly to signal

that all operational voltages are satisfactory. The LED will not light if the

Bass Preacher is bypassed. Press the footswitch to toggle between effect on

and true bypass mode.

VOL Knob VOL Use – to adjust the amount of makeup gain.

SUSTAIN Knob SUSTAIN– Turn to set the amount of compression.

ATTACK Switch ATTACK – Toggle to set the timing of the attack/decay

curve.

INPUT Jack Plug your instrument or the output of another effects pedal –

into this ¼” jack. The input impedance is 450k . 

AMP Jack AMP The – jack outputs the Bass Preacher audio signal. The ’s

output impedance ranges from 150 to 2.8k . 

9V Power Jack The Bass Preacher accepts 9V Batteries, and can also be –

powered from an Electro-Harmonix 9.6DC-200 power supply. Plug the output

of the AC adapter into the 9V power jack located at the top of the Bass

Preacher. The Bass Preacher draws 33mA at 9VDC with a center negative

plug. The Bass Preacher accepts Boss® and Ibanez® style AC Adapters

capable of delivering at least 50 mA.

Warning: Do not use an incorrect power supply or you risk damaging the

Bass Preacher and vo ing your warranty. Always check the specifications on id

the power adapter you intend to use before plugging it into the Bass

Preacher.

- CHANGING THE BATTERY -

To change your 9V battery, remove the four screws on the bottom of the

Bass Preacher. Take off the bottom plate and change the battery. Do not

touch the circuit board while the bottom plate is off or you risk damaging a

component.

- WARRANTY INFORMATION -

Please register online at http://www.ehx.com/product-registration or complete and

return the enclosed warranty card within 10 days of purchase. Electro-Harmonix will

repair or replace, at its discretion, a product that fails to operate due to defects in

materials or workmanship for a period of one year from date of purchase. This

applies only to original purchasers who have bought their product from an authorized

Electro-Harmonix retailer. Repaired or replaced units will then be warranted for the

unexpired portion of the original warranty term.

Return Authorization Number (RA#) from EHX Customer Service before returning

your product. Include with your returned unit: a written description of the problem

as well as your name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, and RA#; and a

copy of your receipt clearly showing the purchase date.
