On the Opti
of the optic. Reach inside the optic and r otate the mechanism
with a nger to change your setting.
• F/161 is the Pinhole setting.
• F/64 is the Pinhole Sieve setting.
• F/32 is the Zone Plate setting.
On the mirrorless Obscura, look f or the f/-- settings on the front/
inside of your Obscura. Reach inside the front of your Obscura
and rotate the mechanism with a nger to
change your setting.
• F/90 is the Pinhole setting.
• F/45 is the Pinhole Sieve setting.
• F/22 is the Zone Plate setting.
The Apertures:
Pinhole
Vast depth of eld with full focus, yet a softer image without
sharp detail.
Pinhole Sieve
Uses a eld of pinholes with the largest at the center. Lets in
more light from various holes, creating unique artifacts, are,
and glow. More ne detail than the simple pinhole setting.
Zone Plate
Lets the most light in with multiple circular rings surrounding
a center hole. Produces a central area o f detailed focus, which
fades into blur towards the edge of the image.

What is Obscura?
Lensbaby Obscura is inspired by the mechanism behind the very rst photographs:
pinhole photography, which allows light to enter from one direction with no
focusing. So unlike other lenses, Obscur a isn’t technically a lens and does not ha ve
a focus ring, just three apertur e settings, listed below.
